Old world elegance. Built in 1848, this fully restored, approximately 7500 sq ft. ten Bedroom Estate on world famous, Ocean Ave. sits just 0.2 of a mile from beautiful Dock Square, and a 30 second drive to the Ocean. Enjoy morning & evening Beautiful Sunrise & sunsets over the River and crashing wave Ocean sounds.

The 'Old River House', sits on the Kennebunk River next to the Arundel Yacht Club. Two public parks sit in front of and along side the Estate.

'The Old River House,' is nestled among the many old Captain's Mansions of the 18th Century. An almost $800,000 renovation in 2010 brings this grand old Captain's mansion back to its original grandeur. Antiques throughout the many rooms and the frequent passing of the Kennebunkport horse drawn carriage brings one back to that slower, more quaint part of American history. Morning coffee and evening drinks on the porch are just perfect for watching the river boat traffic and the children taking sailboat lessons at the 'Arundel Yacht Club' next door.

''The Old Rigging Loft'( Barn) is now, a separate apartment, with Care-takers, and owner / operators, Scott & Cheryl Mahoney on site and available 24 hours for the convenience and comfort of 'Old River House' Guests. We make every effort to assure your 5 Star vacation stay. Just ask !

There are four stair cases, and three levels of living space. New rugs, new bed mattresses, new curtains, new furniture, custom gardening, newly added European and American antique furniture throughout, are a hallmark of the Old River House.

This house is perfect for a large group that appreciates the history of the Kennebunkport area. You can't beat the location - river views and a 5 minute walk to everything in Dock Square. Scott and Cheryl are terrific hosts, very responsive and welcoming. Our big group loved the house!

The 10 bedrooms, generous indoor and outdoor space, made this perfect for our family reunion. We loved being able to visit snd share meals on the veranda or indoors in the ample living space. An added benefit was the location—an easy walk to shops and restaurants in one direction or the ocean in the other direction. The historic house and views of the river were another plus.

We loved our stay at the Old River House! Ten members of our local book club enjoyed an overnight stay at this beautiful home and we loved every minute of it. Close to the ocean, shops, restaurants and all that makes the Maine sea coast wonderful. Our only regret is that we did t stay longer...We’ll be back!

We loved our stay at the Old River House, and it was perfect for our family. The house is perfectly located in a beautiful area, just a quick walk to quaint shops and restaurants. We had a great extended family getaway weekend at Old River House! We had family members ranging from 2 yrs to 86 yrs old and there was something for everyone. The location is amazing, close to everything and was walkable to shopping etc for ALL of us. The hosts were so helpful and responsive when we needed, and otherwise let us enjoy our time. The house is thoughtfully furnished and included everything we needed. The small park area across the street was great for letting the kids get some energy out, and the house had games, puzzles and books to keep people occupied as well. Amazing, priceless memories made, thank you so much to Scott and Cheryl!

We just returned from a wonderful long weekend staying at the Old River house in Kennebunkport. It is a large house and was perfect for our women's get away weekend. There were up to 8 of us on some of the nights and we were each able to have our own bedroom. It is a great location, a short walk to town for meals ,shopping, and then you can continue through town and head to the beach. The house was clean and well maintained. Plenty of room on the downstairs level, with a big kitchen, dining room and living room. All very nicely renovated and decorated. We have been going away together for 18 years to different locations all over New England and we found this house to be one of the nicest places we have stayed.

12 old friends do a golf weekend in KPT every fall. This property is fantastic for a large group; 10 bedrooms (real bedrooms) and spacious kitchen, living and sitting room; large deck. Best of all, short walk to downtown KPT. Owner lives next door and was so accomidating. An older home, but well maintained and so much charactor.

My family and I spent Labor Day weekend in Kennebunkport to celebrate the life of my grandmother. The Old River House is huge and was the perfect size allowing all 12 of my family members to share a home comfortably. The location was PERFECT! It was great that everyone could go into town whenever they wanted. We had a wonderful brunch Sunday on the porch. The green space and water view across the way was beautiful.

My friends and I had another great time staying at the Old River House during Prelude. You can see the Friday night fireworks from the front porch and it is less than a 10 minute walk to downtown where many of the holiday festivities and shopping are located. The owner, Scott, is very attentive and responds quickly if you need him for anything. Also the house is large enough to comfortably accomdodate 3 couples and 5 children.

We have stayed at the Old River House with friends the past few years for Kennebunkport's Christmas Prelude and have found the owners responsive and welcoming and the house clean, comfortable and able to accommodate our larger group of 6 adults and 3 children without any problem. A wonderful option for just 2 or a large party as the house offers everything you would need for a fun and relaxing stay in Kennebunkport and with his close proximity to downtown it is very convenient for those who just want to walk into town and take in the sites. Our family highly recommends this house and its owners and we enjoy staying every year.

The updates to the kitchen were AWESOME! 6 burner cooktop and double ovens handled the cooking load easily for all meals. The dining room handled 14 hungry diners perfectly with plenty of seating. Everyone loved gathering in the double living rooms. The sun was beautiful in the living room in morning while people gathered for morning coffee. Scott was great before during, and after our stay.Great weekend.

Another wonderful Prelude weekend at the Old River House. It is the perfect location to enjoy all the Christmas festivities and a less than 10 min walk to the downtown Dock Square area. It is also a great house for a bigger group of people. Our family of 4 and 3 friends and their families are all able to stay at the house comfortably. The kids love it and when they young ones get restless we can just walk across the street to the recently redone park on the water. Will be back again next year!

The Old River House did not disappoint! Scott and Cheryl were very accommodating. The house was very old, which was very neat to stay in. Lots of great antiques to look at in the house as well. Plenty of space in the house as well and location was perfect! I hope to travel back to Kennebunkport in the Future. We had a wonderful time in Kennebunkport and the hosts could not have been more gracious and helpful. I thought it might be intimidating to have their family next door, but there are different entries to the two houses, and it did not conflict with feeling that we had the "place to ourselves." The yards/parks across 2 sides of the house were very useful for the kids and for the adults to sit and watch the boats go by. It was expensive, but if that is not an object, this is the place to stay in Kennebunkport with a large group.
