Very lovely location, and a very comfortable and homey house! We enjoyed the wood stove and the wood that was provided. The house is very spacious and we were very happy to be able to bring our three dogs with us. We want to return when the weather is warmer, maybe in May.
The place worked perfect for us. The size and location was great. It was clean and had all we needed - I only gave it 4 stars for cleanliness because it's an older place and I don't want to mislead anyone who is expecting something new.
My friends and I spend two nights in this house. The house has all amenities, its clean, and the parking is very big. We plan to return to this house in this winter season.
The location of this house is amazing! Right in the high peaks region and on a beautiful, quiet road. House is stocked with everything you could need and we really enjoyed using the fire pit after our hikes.
The property is nestled in a beautiful rural area with access to a grocery store nearby in Keene and a short (GORGEOUS) drive away to Lake Placid through the Keene Valley mountain area...It was a blessing and joy to drive back and forth through this during our weekend stay! Communication with Judson was smooth and timely, check-in and check-out was very easy. Judson let us know prior to arrival there were was a lady bug phase going on, and it was happening at our home in Western NY on a smaller scale so I wasn't surprised by this...we brought the kids' "Bug Gun" and they cleaned up those lady bugs! House was clean and ample size to accommodate our group of 3 adults/6 kids.
Suggested maintenance and notes for a more comfortable stay:
1) The tap water has a smell and sulfur taste. I am not picky about water, but I could not drink it; none of us did. I boiled water in my air pot and let it cool for drinking water, and we also had some bottled water. Guests should bring bottled water. Judson can consider adding a Brita filter attachment to the kitchen sink, or guests may want to bring theirs if if they own one.
2) There are two bathrooms, one upstairs and one downstairs, each with toilet and shower. Neither has a true tub. An adult will not have access to a tub. Guests with young children should know the downstairs bathroom has a short 4-6 inch "wall" around it that can fill up as a TINY "tub" for a child.
3) This shower also has a glitch where the manual flip (up/down) switch for the drain does not stay down, so while showering, the water is plugged and is accumulating in that 4-6" bin.
4) The same downstairs bathroom has 2 pocket doors, one exits to the mudroom/entry and the other exits into one (of two) guest bedrooms downstairs. This is the only room attached to a bathroom. This may be helpful to know for guests who need access to bathrooms in the evening. However, guests staying in that room may be disturbed if other guests use that bathroom because pocket doors don't help much with sound.
5) The pocket door to the bedroom would not slide properly. It was very difficult to move the door and it got stuck all the time.
6) Neither pocket door had a functional lock. This lack of privacy was an inconvenience for us as we were staying with another family.
We really enjoyed our stay and would consider staying again! The kitchen was well stocked with cooking pans, tupperware, seasonings and more. We cooked several meals and had no issues.

Liked: Communication, location
Disliked: Check-in, listing accuracy
Disappointed
The house had hot water, the linens were clean and smell good.
Location is good for area hiking.
Very Low maintenance
Water not for drinking - smell of sewage
Mouses and Beatles at the house
Beds like hammocks
The location and cabin size were perfect for our weekend plans of golfing, swimming and enjoying nature. Our large group made good use of the fire pit and bbq grill. The kitchen and bathrooms had all the essentials.
Unfortunately, there aren't two bunk beds in the one room as listed and the mattresses were thin and uncomfortable. Rent this place expecting to somewhat rough-it.
Responses from the owner were prompt; always within minutes.
Came up with a group of folks looking to spend a weekend ice climbing, and the location couldn't be beat - we were mere minutes from Cascade Pass and other great areas. The cabin was comfy, well-equipped, and easy to find. Our host was quick to respond to our questions as well, and our stay couldn't have gone better. Plenty of room to play cards and watch tv in the evenings, and we were even able to all take showers in the morning without running out of hot water!
The house was larger in person than in the pictures. Wifi felt a bit slow but that was probably due to our larger group. Nice and simple house overall with quick access to tons of hiking.
