We have stopped talking reservations after Dec 16 , 2025

Newly renovated, uniquely and beautifully decorated 2 bedroom apartment in a Mediterranean Style Villa. Owner lives on the property, and we want to make your stay in Hawaii as enjoyable as possible.
We enjoy having guests from all over the world and want you to feel welcomed 😊.
The unit opens on a spacious screened patio where you can relax and enjoy your meal. The property is not available for events or parties.
One bedroom has a king size bed, the other room has a queen size bed. An additional fold out bed is available if needed.
Close to main highway 130 and East Hawaii's many points of interest, activities and attractions.
Amenities include: air conditioned rooms,
WIFI, Refrigerator , charcoal grill, Stove with oven, electric fans, Microwave, Washer/dryer, Radio/Clock, and restroom amenities included. We also have binoculars for site seeing and snorkeling gear you can use. Umbrellas and a shoe dryer for rainy days.

Our host, Mike was extraordinary. He was very welcoming and made sure we had anything / everything we needed. Joy was out of town at the time of our visit, but Mike was a great host on his own.

This villa was amazing for our family to stay at for our week in Hilo. A short drive to many beaches, waterfalls, hikes, and volcanoes. The best part was absolutely the host. Mike went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed to make the most out of our trip. From beach chairs to flashlights for hiking the lava tubes, Mike had it all for us. He even had toys for our toddler to play with! Most importantly, every interaction with Mike felt like we were with family. It really felt like we traveled home and stayed with our parents/grandparents.

Lovely home

Michael and Joy were a lovely couple. Michael had loypts of oversea’s experience that he explained various decorations of the house to us. Amazingly, he built the house on his own! This was our 1st time stayed in the house with the owner, yet not sharing the house. The concept was very unique. Most of the time, we did not cross paths each. We had our own space, room, kitchen, and bathroom! The air was cool at night. So no AC was needed at night. The master bedroom was cozy and quiet at night, filled with fragrance from the garden! The guest bedroom could be a little noisy at night depending on the street traffic. We overall, enjoyed our time with Michael and Joy!

Unit was close to the highway so easy access to restaurants, stores etc. The beds were comfy, unit clean, Mike was an awesome host and we will stay there again!

Bungalow Attached to main house. Mike was very personable and helpful recommending restaurants and things to do in the area. Thought of everything you’d need. Offered beach chairs, cooler, beach towels etc. would stay there again.

Close to everything

Perfect spot for the 3 of us (wife, me, 17 yo) - 2 beds, 1 bath, secure efficiency apt in a private house. Mike made it easy, everything you want is right there, down to the abundant lilikoi and abiu right outside your door. Close to Pahoa (10 mins), Hilo (20 mins), and easy drive to Volcano and elsewhere. Mike is great to talk to and will stay out of your way when not needed. Great recommendations for places to visit and eat from Mike and his family. Great price for Christmas week as well! They have beach towels, beach chairs, snorkel gear, and more for you to use if you want. Nice and quiet too (except for the rooster and the occasional chicken wars happening in the neighbor's yard). Highly recommend if you're staying on the Hilo side!

This property is a converted garage that is attached to the owner's home - they live in the home with you. This is not a private home. There are many communal areas that they use for storage and everyday use - such as campaign posters. Not really a private place.

Friendly host

The location is easy to find, our host was gracious and full of good stories; however, it was only man-clean. I'm sure it is very clean when Joy is there, but she was away.

Great 4 days

Perfect for exploring the volcano and Hilo area. My husband could even have a cigar out back on the relaxing patio after our daily adventure . Mike was friendly and very informative. Highly recommend.

Absolutely charming!

The place is a cozy bohemian place. So much character and charm, two bathrooms, laundry facilities, nice beds, plenty of kitchen supplies, and a coffee maker. Michael is an excellent host! He’s super friendly and welcoming, and happy to talk about the island and give you recommendations. The location may be a little remote for some but honestly, you’re gonna have to drive anywhere you want to go. So if you want a comfortable place with charm in a peaceful location, this is a superb spot. And again, Michael is a gem!

Comfortable home away from home

Little paradise......

I knew I had to stay at Michael and Joys property the second I saw the photos of it. What you get is even better than the photos! Such a cool, unique home. Michael is a super nice, helpful guy with a wealth of information about the area. You’ll have your own comfortable private space, but there is a large communal area which is where you’ll probably end up spending most of your time. Plan to stay there, and make sure you plan to spend some time just hanging out there. It’s so relaxing and special.

Great Hilo side location

We had great directions and check in details from Mike. Traveling with our daughter, son in law and 3 yr old the ‘apartment’ was prefect. Very clean, nicely decorated and very comfortable, they thought of everything, We enjoyed hearing how Mike and Joy had built and decorated their property with features from around the world. He provided great dining, family friendly beach and site seeing suggestions. We would certainly return, thank you for the positive experience.
