Great location close to the ocean with a nice breeze and views. It was nice sitting on the deck even during the rain! The house was nice and my favorite part of the house was the stained glass in the upstairs bathroom. It’s a drive to the bigger attractions but the smaller communities around have excellent restaurants and farmers stands. There are some great food/coffee trucks on the main highway about 7 minutes away. Be prepared for it to be busy with people between the house and the ocean as it’s a well traveled trail and people fish along the cliffs. Recommend!

We loved this property, great view, comfortable house, good location and great views! We would love a lamp, either standing or table, in the living room. Great property and we will definitely come back!

WONDERFUL OCEAN FRONT RENTAL

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had such a great stay at this home on the Big Island! The sunrise views from the front deck were amazing — and just a short walk to the bluff made them even better. The place was exactly as described, super comfortable, and had everything we needed. It’s in a great spot too — easy to get to anywhere on the island. We’d definitely stay here again on our next visit!

Woke up to Paradise

Checked in late one evening. Woke up to the most amazing sunrise over the pacific. Enjoyed the views and walking along the coast. Spent hours fishing and whale watching. The house had everything we needed. Thank you!

Nicely equipped home right next to the ocean. Centrally Located near the items we wanted to see on the east side of the island. House could use some upgrading and we had a few unwanted ants in the home. No HVAC, but didn’t need it because of the nice sea breeze.

Amazing ocean view

I'm pretty sure the best feature of this property is the ocean view from the main and upper lanai(s). The house is beautiful as well as it's landscaping. It's so relaxing to stay in a place like this. We had one of the toilets leaking but management took care of it the very next day without delay to our vacation itinerary. I don't mind staying here again. I will miss this place!

Perfect ocean front house

We loved the location and the quietness and closeness to the ocean. It has all the supplies you ever need. And the two-storied open floor plan is so nice. You can open the windows and patio doors to hear the ocean and air flow can quickly cool down the rooms. It doesn't have AC but we didn't feel we need it either.

The house had some maintenance issues that need to be tended to. Sliding glass door that won’t budge, lock not working on sliding glass door etc. upstairs bedroom suite pleasant. Downstairs bedroom barren. No art on wall. A bed, two battered nightstands and a chair. Nothing else. House clean, beds comfortable.Having said all that we would recommend the house. Wonderful ocean views and nice location. Price is right. We lived on the upstairs deck. Good communication with house manager .

Kevin's wedding

We selected this VRBO due to its proximity to my son's home. The views were excellent and the home served us well. My only disappointment was all the people driving down Beach Rd and turning around in the back driveway. This went on day and night.

Beautiful

The house and grounds were just as advertised. It was very close to the ocean, you could hear the waves crashing. The house was clean and very nice. We had everthing we needed. While there is no air conditioning in the house, if you keep all the doors and windows open, it cooled down just fine. We had most everything we needed in the kitchen, a few spices or seasonings would be helpful and sharper knives too. Overall, it was a lovely place to stay.

Enjoyable stay

The house was nice and just like it was pictured. The frogs are loud so if you have trouble with outdoor noise that could be an issue. We had no problem. The windows in the upstairs bathroom are a little odd with them being so exposed. There is no curtain for the windows. The street between the house and the ocean can get active with people. The view is wonderful.

Great views

The grounds and the home were clean and comfortable. Everything worked as expected. The kitchen was stocked very adequately, however the home needs a manual can opener since the electric can opener doesn't work right. There was only salt, pepperand some oil, so if you plan to cook, you'll need to get your own condiments and spices. The kitchen things were very minor compared to the overwhelming relaxation and beauty of the home and it's location. There is a very good grocery store just 15 minutes away. I highly recommend this place.

Nice beachfront property

One can walk through front yard to the ocean edge (drop off). You can hear the ocean while laying in bed. Observed whales breeching from the porch at least 4 times. I ran 2-3 miles every morning (1 mile of it along ocean Beachroad). The rainwater catchment system was new to me. I was concerned a first. However, I drank the water for over a week and didn't get sick :)

Great place to relax

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Clean and comfortable and with amazing views. We were visiting family to attend the Merrie Monarch and the drive to Hilo was easy to navigate. Quiet area and well maintained home. We had a little difficulty finding the property on the first night, I would suggest adding the street name Akala Ave as listed on the sign to the directions. Also lighting at gate and an improved lock/opening system are needed. I was uncomfortable with the window in the loft bathroom shower and would suggest frosting the pane or adding curtains. The home and property were nicely maintained. Views and the sound of the waves from the livingroom and loft were soothing. I am truly missing my morning coffee overlooking the ocean.

Keaau Ocean house

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The property is a very relaxing place to spend time. Although it sounded from the description that Beach Drive is closed the barrier is at the front of the property. We came in the winter so traffic was not bad. We enjoyed watching the humpback whales from the lanai. You can see the first light and sunrise especially if you walk on Beach Drive looking east. Lighting is a bit of a challenge if you have to navigate the stairs at night. The ceiling fans help but it took a bit to learn which switches activated them and then find the remotes. The beds are comfortable and it's great that there are extra blankets and pillows available. The upstairs bathroom is very pretty but a bathtub mat is advisable because it's extremely slick with no grab bars available. I fell in it after losing my footing the first day and injured my ribs, which a week later still hurts without constant ibuprofen. Nice bruise too. I didn't use it again. A bit of a damper to my vacation.

Stunning Views, Fantastic Stay

We chose this location to be away from urban bustle, and to enjoy a local experience. It is a convenient jump off to Volcanoes NP, the Puna District and the Hamakua Coast, and about 15-20 minutes to Hilo’s events, museums, and restaurants. At the entrance to the property’s subdivision we found fun places to eat (with live music), and a fantastically-stocked store to grab anything you need. Upon arrival, one is immediately struck by the expanse of lush landscaping and great privacy from the property next door. The ocean views commanded the back of the property, and so close it could startle you with waves spraying high up on the pathway running between the house and the sea. Friendly locals use this path for morning walks but otherwise one enjoys incredible solitude. The layout of the house was great for us. We loved the openness and expansiveness of the upstairs master bedroom and bath, and the ocean views from the upper and downstairs patios. The kitchen was well-stocked, and appliances in great shape. The ceiling fans created great airflow, and the house was extremely neat and clean, and welcoming in all reaspects. The local property manager was so helpful and friendly, and readily available for all our needs. Her “aloha spirit” was a special asset for this property. I would recommend this property to one seeking a private ocean-front seat to incredible morning sunrises, the vista of Hawaiian seas, and the sounds of nature, Hawaiiaan-style.

A Lovely Place to Stay, Walk, and Listen to the Waves!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: If it weren't for an almost solid two-weeks of rain (end of Oct to early Nov) this stay was exactly what I needed. It was safe and peaceful. The property is absolutely beautiful, with a lovely lawn in front. A couple of lounge chairs would have made for perfect sunbathing (assuming you could get some sun!) People-watching was fun, and everyone was friendly and had a dog, and even one cat! Unfortunately, people do park directly in front of the home as it is at the end of the road, and some would leave litter. Such a shame. It is truly a very special setting, and being able to hear the waves crashing along the lava cliffs at night was exceptionally enjoyable. I would stay again. Note: the house water is not drinkable (very stinky) and locals fill jugs at the government provided filling stations which are close-by. Traffic to and from Hilo can be substantial. Sensor-motion lighting outside the home would have been useful for nighttime arrivals.

We came to the HPP area to look at a house to buy and the neighbors and views and sounds sold us on it. I would definately rent this place again. Perfect Spot in Paradise Park

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location of the property is ideally located on the ocean. As noted in the property description there is a local dead-end road in front of the property so minimal traffic other than local people stopping to fish or walk the coast. The property met our expectations and had all the necessary items to make it a pleasant and quiet stay.
