It lived up to its billing as a hotel of character. For starters a heavy old fashioned room key and plenty of character in the rooms. Room was comfortable albeit a bit on the warm side. Excellent cooked buffet breakfast and also just a 5 minutes walk from the main station. All in all good value for the price

The hotel is located in the old town. Just a one-minute walk away, There are plenty of options for dining and strolling and the area is safe, even late at night. The staff is very nice and friendly. Parking is available on the hotel premises. Both the building and the restaurant feature an elegant, classic style, yet the guest rooms are fully modernized and equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay.

Beautiful hotel. Very close to the Altstadt, easy walk to train station. Nice spa at hotel (sauna, infrared room, steam room). The breakfast was very good with a nice selection.

The Hotel Central is a great hotel conveniently located in the Old Town. It has a lovely little lobby with comfortable seating. The rooms are compact but efficient, containing everything we needed—-towels, space for unpacking, comfortable beds. The room was immaculate. While not air-conditioned, the room contained a tower fan that helped keep us cool (in October). An added benefit was the Cafe Central, housed in the Hotel Central. Free breakfast was included with the room, and the buffet was hearty and plentiful. The breads were wonderful!! The Cafe was open all day—-in the afternoon we made sure to have a coffee/tea and their famous apple strudel!! It was so worth it!! The staff was friendly and helpful in suggesting restaurants for dinner and other local sights. We were able to leave our luggage before we caught the train. I would highly recommend the Hotel Central, and I’m looking forward to our next visit!

We had a mostly lovely stay at Hotel Central - the room was clean, the location couldn't be better, and the front desk staff were genuinely wonderful. Unfortunately, on our second night we had no hot water at all. A maintenance man did come to look but couldn't fix it, and the only solution offered was the showers in the spa area, which turned out to be completely see-through. That was an extra disappointment after a 10.5km hike, when a hot shower was all we wanted. On our first night the shower also leaked badly, leaving a large puddle across the bathroom, and all our extra towels went to soaking up the mess. Thank you to the front desk team, who were lovely - but for a 4 star hotel, we expected the basics to work.

We stayed in this hotel during a significant heat wave. The available air conditioning in our room was not sufficient, and the outdoor patio was closed up so that the heat from that small space radiated into the bedroom space. On the bright side, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was excellent.
