"There was nothing to like. Lift wasn't working, water wasn't draining in the bathroom wash basin. Free breakfast is a falsehood, laundry is a falsehood. Rooms were cleaned only one day out of the 4 days we stayed. "

"The hotel is easy to find, and ideally located for visiting Beamish Museum. It is very attractive, and the bar and restaurant areas have great views westwards over the valley. Each ground floor room has its own car parking slot - wonderful! The staff are friendly and helpful, and a small bonus for me, the malt whisky is cheaper than the pub down the road .... I would definitely stay here again if visiting the area, there was nothing I did not like."

"Although the hotel is looking "tired", e.g. light fittings hanging off in the bathroom, I felt safe. Just wanted somewhere to sleep for 1 night, therefore ideal"

"Lovely clean room and very comfy bed. Plenty tea and coffee in the room and towels. We were in room 2 which has its own decking terrace. The main car park is at the back of the hotel and there are a couple of spaces at the front too but both sides have very close access. We had the full English breakfast both mornings which is not included in the booking price but worth every penny. It really set us up for the day. We're just home after a two night stay and have already booked again for our next visit. I would definitely recommend The Moorings. "
