"Quiet & pretty grounds. Clearly quite something back in its day but the rooms are tired, dirty & need refurbishing. No basic house keeping (not even replacement clean coffee cups, bins changed) due to skeleton staff, or may be no staff. Did feel more like a hostel than hotel which is a real shame given the property history. On a positive food was reasonable & interaction with staff we did see was friendly. "

Most of us had a good experience. But 3 had an issue with the steaks ordered. They found them to be a little tough to eat. The others all enjoyed what they had ordered. "We stayed here for a couple of nights for a long weekend exploring the Yorkshire Wolds. The location is great, being close to a few larger towns like Driffield and Pocklington, but also close to some amazing walking including a stretch of the Yorkshire Wolds Way. The room was really lovely, the staff friendly, and the food and beer fantastic. We will definitely stay again when we're next out this way! "
