"I was pleasantly surprised with this property. It appears to have been recently updated on the outside and looks way nicer than the Google Maps image. The room and bathroom were very clean. There was a fridge and microwave (also clean!) which I hadn’t expected. The lobby is closed so check in was through a window on the side of the building, but the process was quick. There is no coffee available, but there is a restaurant and gas station nearby. The bed was comfortable, but the blanket was very thin and the two pillows on the king bed were very flat. The soap dispenser in the shower was empty so that was unfortunate. Overall I’m glad I chose to stay there as it was a convenient location for me."

"The space was perfect for our family. We didn’t utilize the dock area but chose to go to a little beach a few miles up the road to swim and fish. It was a great gateway that our family desperately needed"

"Once you are there…so incredibly relaxing and beautiful. The cabins are wonderful and well appointed and bed was very comfortable. The property itself, we didn’t have enough time to really explore, but drinking coffee in the morning on our porch was lovely watching hummingbirds, birds, squirrels and rabbits! My husband enjoyed the stocked pond, caught three 3-4lb bass. It is remote-ish, but that is definitely the biggest plus for a weekend getaway. Would I book again, ABSOLUTELY!"

"We absolutely loved The Shady Pine at Barren River Lake, with one caveat: we arrived after dark, and I don't recommend that. My GPS provided street names and our directions were based on the route numbers and cell service was very spotty. Melissa was great - we called and told her where we were and she was able to verify that our GPS was correct - thankfully! Shady Pines is fully stocked with everything you could want. The weather was very hot so we rented a boat and spent a day on the lake (great swimming!) and went to Mammoth Cave twice which is amazing - and cool. Overall, we were very pleased with our accommodations and had a great time!"
