This property was great for our Girls Getaway to Highlands. Communication was easy and helpful! Getting in and out was a little tricky (being right on the road and a curve) but we just went to the business on the right beyond the house and looped around to drive into the driveway! Worked out great! The cottage was cozy and cute!

Fall Oct 2023

Property was just like Pictures. It is however located on a hair pin turn which was scary and noisy. Thank goodness for the chiropractor business where you can turn around. It was pet friendly but not pet safe. Would not recommend pets. Sun was great on porch for am but not afternoons.

Leaves a lot to be desired

We ended our trip early due to the lack of central air and some very uncomfortable beds. The property is relatively clean yet dusty. The patio is very nice but the grill was left rusty and dirty. There is very little outdoor area for dogs to go potty and as it’s stated in other reviews, the property is dangerously close to a very busy and curving road. I would not recommend this property to a friend and is totally inappropriate for pets. On a positive note, the property manager was very nice and helpful. The area lost power for a few hours the 1st night and he was very helpful with communicating with the power company. The photos accurately reflect the size of the property.

Disappointing Stay

The reviews mentioned proximity to the highway relative to accessibility and noise but it was VERY noisy and busy to enter/exit. The photos on line look great but when we entered, there was a mouse trap (in full view) in the kitchen and a can of Raid on top of the fridge. A blind in the bedroom was broken along with other items. Several bulbs were burned out on the light fixtures. The outdoor cushions were torn up and the towels smelled moldy. I killed a spider and three large ants in the bathroom. We did not feel comfortable eating at the house so went out for every meal-including coffee. We actually cut our vacation short by one night. The booking and check-in process were very easy. We’re hoping to go back to Highlands in the future but will definitely choose a different property. We have owned rental properties so understand issues but we also understand customer satisfaction.

Review of 2622 Dillard Road

We rented the cute cottage for two weeks. It was very well equipped. Very nice appliances. Excellent management. Wonderful large deck. Made one feel they were in a tree house. It is located right on the main road into town. Therefore, the constant traffic was very noisy. More so while sitting on the lovely back deck. Although there are 2 bedrooms, they are very small. And they both open to one bath. Hence, both bed- room doors open into the tiny bath. Not exactly convenient since the bath is so small and barely accommodates one person. Would I rent this cottage again? No But the location is great, and if your bathroom needs are not as important as mine, go for it.

Cute home in highlands

Cute home only a couple of minutes from highlands city center. Nice deck space to relax after a day of hiking. Driveway is a little difficult as the listing states, but we never had any major issues getting in or out.

Very nice place

The property was very nice. It was a great location and only a few minutes from town. The property manager was very friendly and replied quickly. The only issue we had was dog hair from the previous guests. The couch and linens were covered in dog hair and the linens smelled like a musky dog. We contacted the property manager and they were very understanding and offered to come by and clean. We were able to clean everything ourselves, but due to our inconvenience we were offered a later checkout time. Our stay was very satisfying overall.

Dillard Toad

Nice, quaint cottage. Great deck. Looked a little larger in listing narrative. While right on the road, traffic noise wasn’t too bad. TV reception was spotty. Really good location for getting into and around town. Overall, A-…. We’d stay there again…

Cute Little Cottage

This was a very clean, cute cottage. Very well updated. Ad did not indicate it was only about five hundred square feet. The back deck was adequate and very nice. There was so much underbrush I could never see or hear the creek. I would recommend this location if smaller areas are your thing. Close to town. Owner very friendly and eager to solve any problem that arises.

Comfortable cottage

There is much to like about this cottage, in particular the deck. However, anyone renting needs to understand how close the cottage is (less than 20 feet) to a very busy highway with challenging sight distances for pulling in and out of the somewhat limited parking area.

40 Anniversary

Accommodations were lovely and well-equipped. Very close to busy road but traffic settles in evening. Very small yard fence really needs to be repaired and grounds really desperately need to be maintained to give a safer place to be outside.

Spring break electrical issues

The property had electrical problems that caused is to be without power And water for a day and a half. We decided to cut our vacation short by a day b/c this was not tolerable. The owner did offer to move us to another property about 30 minutes away. I nice offer, but inconvenient to pack up on the last day and move, just to pack again the next day. And with this we still would have missed the nice dinner reservations we had made for our final evening because we could not shower. We were offered a refund for the night we left early, but it did not seem to take i to account all of the fees that are incurred from the rental company and they said there would be no negotiations. It was unfortunate to cut our vacation a day short. Hopefully the electrical issues get fixed, b/c otherwise was not a bad place. It is very close to the road and quite small. I would say 2 people is a good number for this property, but otherwise very near the highlands.

Mountain Cottage

We loved the location off this cute cottage perfect for a small family of 3 or couple. The only downside is that it is on a very busy road and we took our pup so we had to have her leashed the entire time which was fine. The bedrooms are located on the backside so you don’t hear any road noise. We would 100% stay again! Owner was great and the home was great for our family.

A really nice little cottage

We spent three nights at the cottage. It is very nicely decorated and feels "homey." The facility is well equipped, and we had everything we needed. Lin was an attentive host and answered our questions. The back balcony looking over the woods is one of the nicest features of the place. We were surprised at the amount of road noise and traffic, especially during daylight hours. The cottage is only a few feet from the side of the road, and during high tourist season, it is very busy. We were also apprehensive about how to safely negotiate the parking given limited visibility around the busy corner. A good place to stay, especially for two adults.

Fun family vacation

Upon entering Highlands, the Winding roads through lush greenery is breathtaking! As we opened the door to our cozy cottage, we were thrilled at how beautiful and clean It was! Beautifully appointed, newly renovated, we walked out onto the deck and were greeted by a beautiful forest behind us. We could hear a waterfall!! It was so nice to have coffee and breakfast at the outdoor table, cozied up on outdoor couch in the evening with a nice glass of wine. About 1.5 miles away, we went on an amazing 2.5 mile hike at Glen Falls with our 7 and 8 yo children, saw the breathtaking Dry falls about 3 miles away , Went on a short 1 mile hike to Sunset rock just outside of downtown off Main Street, took a chilly dip at bust your butt falls about 6 miles away, went white water rafting at Nantahala outdoor Center about an hour and a half away, went on an amazing 5 mile hike to rainbow falls which was located in the Gorge State Park approximately an hour away. Downtown Highlands was super close, grabbed yummy pizza To go at Pizza Place of Highlands, Amazing Outdoor lunch at Wild Thyme, followed by Ice cream at Kilwins. The property manager Lin was extremely helpful, both prior to our arrival and during our stay, Answering all questions and giving great suggestions. Very comfortable beds, recliners, and the cookware was perfect! We enjoyed our stay so much, we will be back!!
