"Great location. Very walkable to all the fun things Elkin has to offer, including a local brewery/pizza place and a fantastic cocktail bar. Hiking trails for all levels within walking distance from room. Nice studio room, very clean, but a little small for two adults. Needs comfortable seating, task lighting and bedside tables of some sort. 3.5 out of 5"

"This beautiful property was perfect for what we needed. Our son had a soccer tournament in Hickory with spaced out game times, rescheduled games due to weather, etc. The Blue Door Guesthouse was our comfortable oasis to relax and enjoy family time. The pool was great, even in May! The hosts are top knotch. Highly recommend!"

"Husband and I went for a quick getaway. Everything was clean and convenient. The cats were so sweet and nice company to have while you sat on the balcony and looked at the lake. Fishing was extremely relaxing as well. They had board games for the rainy night we had and the kitchen was well stocked. Loved it and would definitely try to go again."

It had everything we needed, plus extra thoughts from the owner, like little add-ons like suntan lotion for the pool. It is quietly placed behind a grand home in downtown Hickory. "This is a beautiful spot! It rained and stormed our entire weekend there but we were still able to sit under the gazebo on the dock and have a relaxing weekend away. The host was courteous and allowed us our privacy but was available if needed. The neighbor was kind as well. They left us a basket of snacks and a couple of bottles of water which was appreciated since we arrived later in the evening. The living area is well equipped and has everything you may need. "I rented this home as a place friends & family could stay as well as the venue for my husband's 50th surprise party. It had everything my guests & myself could want. Lots of space to spread out while still allowing for large groups to gather. The teens loved the game room & movie theater. Fully stocked kitchen so you can cook anything you desire. The only drawback are all the stairs but us old folks managed just fine! Overall 5 star location & highly recommend."
