Excellent location for Kielder Forest and observatory and within easy reach of the east coast.
Easy to get to accommodation with plenty of surrounding walks.
Quiet
Just returned from an overnight stay in the Versace Glamour apartment-don't think I've stayed in such opulence before!! Lovely and warm too, and a perfect base for exploring Kielder and the glorious Northumberland countryside.
ere happy with our room and it seemed good value, until the kids that were staying in the room upstairs started running laps if their room. The ceilings are paper thin, you can hear every single noise from upstairs.
We went out for some food and when returning, again in pitch black I managed to trip on a broken paving stone. And almost fall through a glass window, twisting my ankle in the process.
Getting any sleep was almost impossible. The ceiling above the the main bed was so creaky with no sound deadening that Its no exaggeration when I say that you can hear literally every footstep from upstairs. We could even tell when the upstairs guests turned over in bed and had to listen to their snoring all night. We could tell every time they got out of ved and went to the toilet (which seened to be abnormally often)
If it was a chain hotel I would have demanded a refund and possibly claimed for the twisted ankle and fall due to the very badly maintained exterior.
My advice to the owner is to put up some lighting and fix the walkways before they face being sued due to someone being seriously injured, and solve the creaky floor/ceiling.

Nice but Noisy
Accommodation was very nice ,although kitchen and outside area looking a bit tired.
Biggest issue was the poor noise insulation from upstairs .
The occupants of the flat above were just walking about but it sounded like a herd of Elephants .
This would deter us from returning, which is a pity as the apartment and area was nice.
Absolutely wonderful place, spotless, comfortable and beautifully decorated. Only downside foe me was due to location it's impossible to get a mobile phone signal but I suppose that would be a bonus for some. Highly recommended for a peaceful getaway.
Sitting/ kitchen area very nice and spacious. Bedrooms would have been better a little larger as no adequate chest of drawers or wardrobe. Bathrooms lovely but no shelf over the basin for toiletries. Good car parking right outside front door.
A wonderful place to stay. Helen was very helpful.

Dark skies, quiet cider, rabbits.
The confirmation email they send, the one that says ‘print this and bring it with you’; print it, and bring it with you. (Else you find yourself in the pub, leeching their Wi-fi to find the code to get the key to your lovely apartment.)
Ok, oblique confession over. On with the review...
There’s no phone signal (you wanted quiet), and adequate WiFi for browsing if not streaming (you wanted quiet). Go outside.
The pub is an old school local boozer.
The cider is deceptive. The food is ample. The people are lovely.
If you’re staying for more than a night or plan to cook at all, the kitchen will have all the generic hardware you expect; but bring oils, spices, paper towel, and the other assorted consumables used when making, eating, and cleaning up after yourself.
The apartments are nice, the village is 20-60 minutes away from anything.
Here are dark skies, quietness, and rabbits. Sometimes you hear sheep calling to each other at night.
If any of the above reads like it might annoy you, look elsewhere.

Great apartment/ village
The only administration issue is that the price was quoted in GBP, and I paid with GBP credit card, only to have been charged in US dollars with an exchange rate.
This was a family weekend away stayed in the farmhouse .. family ages ranged from 1yr till 60 n each and everyone of us had an excellent experience we just arrived home yesterday but we have already been looking at dates to re-book
Great place for entertaining clients but also
So doubled up as family get together time
Pub just down the road what could be better after a day if activity
Helen the lady who was at reception was fantastic
Definitely not 5*.
We stayed in the ‘Romantic Medieval’ cottage and although this would have at some point been 5* accommodation, we found it not to be. The TV upstairs didn’t work, the hairdryer didn’t work, general cleanliness wasn’t up to standard (dusty, cobwebs, filthy extractor fan in bathroom, not had a thorough clean from the previous guests, toilet flush was broken), The WiFi didn’t work on arrival and we spent well over an hour trying to rectify this with the help of the lady onsite. However, this didn’t get working until lunchtime the day after. As way of an appeasement we were offered a basket of logs (which were chargeable locally at £6!) and a late checkout. Although this did alleviate our disappointment, there had been no apology for the inconvenience in the email we sent with our frustrations. The place had the potential to be such a lovely stay but it would seem to me there had just been no maintenance done in quite a while.

Warm, cosy apartment set in beautiful countryside.
We were met within 10 mins of arriving and able to ask about the local area etc. The apartment was very warm and cosy which was nice as it was so cold outside. Unfortunately there was nowhere to put any of our clothes, despite the size of the bedrooms. We lived out of our cases but it was only for 2 days.
As the apartment is described as Opulent, we were a bit disappointed that the little things had been scrimped on, eg a note with the fire logs that we would have to pay an extra £8 for them. A pint of milk in the fridge would've been nice.
Versace room was comfortable. Arrival time had to be between 4-6pm which is quite late. Tried to call 3 times to say we were arriving about 6.30pm but no response or voicemail. Hard to find which cottage it was when arrived and welcome/ departure of the owners was non-existent. No visitors book to sign for feedback. Too early check out by 10am too.
We rented two two bed apartments for one night for a family trip to Keilder Observatory. The owners of this converted farm have done a splendid job creating fun and comfortable themed apartments that have every amenity one would require for a short or long stay in this beautiful part of England. We would highly recommend.
ideal for visiting the area. Nice cottage/converted barn. Adjoining rooms can be used for larger groups. Close to observatory, only 5 miles away. Lake up the road. Pub in village and another 10 mins walk are OK.
