Click on the 17 minute video... it's is dated but show much more on the rooms!

From the gorgeous waterside decks you have great views of the lake. The waterfront has a gentle slope down to an aluminum dock with a canoe, 10HP motorized aluminum row boat (valid drivers license, ONLY authorized renters & safety gear), paddle board and 2 kayaks. The PONTOON BOAT IS NOT INCLUDED and CANNOT be included due to strict insurance restrictions (illustration for large boat parking only). The back deck has an outdoor entertainment area with gazebo, gas grill, portable hot tub (not guaranteed to work), firebox and seating area. This 60 year old cottage was totally remodeled with beautiful tongue and groove knotty pine throughout. Low 7-foot ceilings & architraves add to a comfortable feel and warmth to the quaint cabin while maximizing the view of the Adirondacks. There are countless places to visit nearby which are perfect for hiking, biking, rafting, antiquing, outdoor sporting, sightseeing, just a short drive to Lake Placid or the St. Lawrence River. Montreal Quebec is only 2.5 hrs away for those with a valid passport and a sense for international fun.

This cottage is nestled in a quiet and serene wooded setting, directly on the shore of Trout Lake. Its high elevation provides a wonderful view of the quiet lake. The lots on this lake have approximately 80-100 feet of water frontage w/dock for boat and/or jet ski and there are cottages on both sides of this +/-80' x 150' lot. In addition, the County Road 19 at the rear has homes along the highway. This waterfront community has respectful & helpful neighbors who will allow you to enjoy your rental... please be good neighbors as well!

The lake water is clean & clear with awesome visibility! You can swim off the dock, paddle out in floats, jump off the boat and beyond. You may also wade in from the shoreline but i emphasize that there is muck/sediment on the bottom in the area of the waterfront!!! Most prefer to swim off the dock and not walk on the muck to swim. There are sandy and quiet State beaches to paddle to and enjoy.

Our guests have easy access to all the Thousand Islands Region has to offer! Walk out of your door and the possibilities are endless. Whether it’s fishing the area lakes and ponds, diving the crystal clear waters, paddling kayaks through scenic preserves, hiking trails leading to multiple water falls, or picnicking in the Adirondack Park, our waterfront location makes it all possible. If you want to take a break from the outdoor adventures, try exploring the two nearby historic castles in Alexandria Bay, the renowned Antique Boat Museum, local wineries on the Thousand Islands Seaway Wine Trail, Visit nearby colleges such as SUNY Potsdam State, Clarkson University (both in Potsdam, NY), Canton ATC, St. Lawrence University (Canton, NY) for orientation, graduation, spring break or sporting events, or simply relax while taking a scenic dinner cruise among the islands or enjoy a bike or motorcycle drive through the region. Seasonal hunters can also enjoy 6 Million Acres of the Adirondack State Forest that begins within walking distance of the property..no hunting on small property.

Whatever your interests may be our top priority is making your stay memorable. After 5 seasons and 350+ guests, I will try to present past complaints: Aluminum row boat with 10HP motor included but NO PONTOON IS INCLUDED (insurance will not cover). There are steps to cottage and water. The hot tub has been replaced with a portable(air) unit. Newer 2018 HotTub IS NOT GUARANTEED TO WORK (they break down often, upset short rental and parts have to be shipped). No bathroom or kitchen in aux bunk/sleeping house. Neighboring homes can be seen from this cottage. No sand beach in front of camp (muck). If your dog barks for hours, the neighbors may complain. RV's welcome but no hookups. Slight & intermittent Sulphur smell to well water at sink and shower. Internet is only 5mbps and streaming data (inc RokuTV) can be irritating. No fireplace and guest never read this advertisement, the "welcome email" or contract. You can check property in advance if you chose. Most LOVE IT, but there is always someone who seeks discounts/free rentals then threats to write a bad review. It is exactly as pictured and described and we promptly assist (even wedding flowers for one honeymoon)!

We did our best to describe most nuances and list past complaints. Most people love and understand this place! If you typically enjoy abusing hotel staff, managers, assigning negative reviews for fun and beyond... another rental may be better suited! We encourage your "5-STAR Rating" and we strive to deliver exactly as pictured/described/priced. It is not a $20M resort so please do not compare and rate as a comparison. It is just a wonderful rustic cottage that most families love. We will help anyway we can within time and reason to go the extra effort.

Click on the calendar link to see available dates. Mandatory week rentals from July - September require a 7 day minimum and check-in is Sunday 4PM and checkout is Sunday 11AM. I always recommend guests purchase Travel Insurance. Insurance can pay back the rental fees if the guests are unable to use the cottage. This helped/protected at least one couple with a late breaking medical concern. As a reminder, freezing winter temperatures exist typically Dec-March. Boats and water toys are stowed for winter and not present. Main Cottage has an LP Heater and a basic floor mounted heater (NO Open Flame and no "Ambience Flame"). The Bunk House has an LP gas heater as well, however it can be uncomfortable in extreme winter conditions (i.e. below zero deg F)! Please plan accordingly if you plan on utilizing the Bunk House in cold weather (Bunk House best suited for non-freezing temps)! The following are some items to familiar yourself with the cottage:

FIRE-PIT & HOT TUB: some of the best time is spent with a hoodie and some bug spray next to the fire pit or in the portable Hot Tub. Hot Tub is shut down when freezing temperatures approach. It is also a mechanical item and prone to break! We will repair and maintain but note that parts have to be shipped and a standard repair can take a week.. so no guarantees that it will work! Family, friends, S’mores and fine merriment cannot be beat! Keep late night shouting and loud music to a minimum to keep neighbors happy.

WATER FUN: Keep the ski boats slow in the “no wake zone” near shore. This allows you and the neighbors to swim safely. Keep the boat speed for the open and deep water lake! There is a state park with a sandy beach that is directly across the lake and easy to reach via boat/canoe/kayak. There are long hiking trails from the county road to the State Beach but is is best to access via boat. There is also “Rock Island” nearby the state beach. Enjoy jumping off the rocks into the deep water below.

FISHING: There are many area bodies of water for all sorts of fishing. This includes Trout Lake, Cedar Lake, Cranberry Lake, Black Lake, Oswegatchie River, Grasse River, St. Regis RIverPlumb Brook, St. Lawrence River & hundreds of mountain brooks and watersheds. The DEC stocks Trout Lake with a combined 5 to 10 thousand rainbow and lakers. Other stocking in recent years include landlocked salmon and walleye. Trout Lake also has a good number of smallmouth bass.

SCUBA: The lake is deep, clear and cold at 100+ feet depths. The St. Law. River has several wrecks from the War of 1812 and up.

AREA OUTDOOR

Hiking: I have attached a map of area hikes in the forest. There are local waterfalls (Lampson Falls, Copper Rock Falls, Rainbow Fall, Twin Falls, etc) are easy hikes. Moon Lake is a 2.7 mile blue trail kid-friendly hike. Wolf Lake and the Firefalls are a longer walk and can take a day or several days if you chose. Experts attack the 46 great Adirondack High Peaks.

Water Falls: See the maps. There are several local water falls. Be sure to port my kayaks around! Lampson Falls, Copper Rock Falls, Rainbow Fall, Twin Falls, etc)

Alexandria Bay: was a popular resort in the late 1800’s and turn of the century. It is famous for it’s “millionaire’s row” where the elite built summer homes along the river. Take the Uncle Sam's Boat Tour to Singer Island and Bolt Castle!

Boldt Castle Tours: famous area castle in Alexandria Bay, NY.

Whitewater Rafting: Raft Black River (near Watertown, NY). This is a fast paced ride what will get your heart pounding. Know how to raft SAFE!

Kayak: If you are kayakers, you can try the Grasse River or the Oswegatchie River (esp upper water shed). Know SAFE kayaking!

Hunting: There are millions of acres that begin almost walking distance from the cottage. Firefalls or Tooley Pond Road (deGrasse, NY) are good starting points for the forest.

SUNY Potsdam/Canton/Plattsburg, Clarskon University and SLU. Check the event schedules for activities.

WINTER: water/hot tub activities limited. Ice may not be suitable to walk for ice fish. Snow shoveling a must

We had a great stay at this lovely house right on the lake. It snowed everyday which made it feel more like the holidays. We wanted to find a place off the beaten path and enjoy the Adirondacks for a few days. The homeowner was very helpful assisting us with locations to visit during our stay. Thank you

My family had a lovely weekend stay at this cozy cottage right on the waterfront. Views of the lake were beautiful. The bunkhouse was great for our teenage / young adult children. We were in the area mainly for my daughter's graduation, so we were unable to enjoy all of the amenities this place has to offer, but we certainly enjoyed our time here.

This property was everything we had hoped for. We enjoyed being right on the lake. There was plenty of room for all 10 of us. A half bath in the bunkhouse would have been nice, but other than that we had a great time!

Our family of five just spent 5 nights at this beautiful property! The views were amazing from the decks and house windows. The home was clean and had everything we needed. The owner was very responsive to any questions we had during our stay. Some of the highlights of our trip were kayaking out to Rock Island to swim and jump off the rocks, hiking to see the various waterfalls throughout the area, and spending time around the firepit! We highly recommend!

Loved the nice relaxing of the lake home. Located in a nice quiet lake. Cabin was very nice, wish it had a bathroom in the bunk house and one more bed in the main house. Just to allow my family to be all in one location. The only other thing I wished it provided was a potoon boat. Would definitely stay again, loved the area. Loved the view of the lake, so so relaxing and quiet.

Trout lake is a gem i found a couple years ago the lake is quiet and absolutely beautiful. This year i wanted my whole family to go with all the kids and this lake house was perfect we enjoyed every aspect of the grounds we enjoyed smores and the hot tub in the upper part of the property. We had morning coffee on the beautiful deck looking out at the water. The cottage was nice and pleanty of room for a large family or two. We enjoyed going out on the boat taking the kids to the sandy beach area to swim. We made lots of awesome memories here. Thanks you David for letting us use your cottage for the week.

We were in the area to visit our Clarkson student and do some ice fishing. We had a nice family getaway. Cozy. Hot water didn't work on arrival but owner had someone there fixing it within 20 minutes so not an inconvenience at all. Very responsive. Whole place just as pictured. Ice fishing not great but we had fun!

Owner is quick to respond which was great, the lake was absolute glass with a beautiful view, it was quiet and so peaceful. A few things left a little to be desired. There was a fly issue inside the house that should be addressed. A little bit of regular maintenance would change the improve the property, there was only one working light outside the house which was a bummer but we just used flashlights,a deep clean would be helpful but the beds sinks and toilet were clean. The owner was informed and quick to respond and thankful for feed back and plan to address issues. Over all we loved the area the lake is everything we hoped for, the hot tub was a great way to unwind after amazing local hikes. They are dog friendly and easy to work with.

Stone work on outside of house and columns on property and dock was falling off creating tripping hazards. Kitchen cupboards were a mess on the inside. Most plates and glasses were not clean. Pots and pans and baking sheets looked like they had been used and put away without washing. As the listing mentioned the hot tub might not be working during our stay, but there was a note saying chemicals had been added the day we arrived and it would be checked the next day. However no one came back to give us an update.

We enjoyed our stay but had issues that impacted our experience. While some were unforeseeable, others could have been addressed ahead. The owners were responsive, but we wished we didn’t have to contact them so often: Items were missing, such as basic dinnerware (no bowls, only plates), no umbrella for the deck (only the stand), and no paddleboard. Each time we had to ask the owners. We understand the cabin is in the woods and that it’s treated for pest but it should have been checked. We found a decomposing mouse in a bathroom cabinet. We suspected another one in the living room due to the smell and eventually found it under a sofa. Two of us were attacked by wasps on the deck where nests were found in the walls around the sliding door. The owners sent someone to spray but it seemed like a recurring issue. The outdoor area needs maintenance: a broken deck gate lock, a tilting boat ramp, fallen bricks on small platforms, a broken lamppost... Also, the bunkhouse door couldn't be locked from the outside (missing key), and the oven was broken when we tried to use it—the owners later offered to replace it but we were about to leave. The bunkhouse flooded during an unusual storm, drenching suitcases and making the house unusable for our last 2 days. Finally, the size of the cabin was fine for us but it’s listed for 12 when it’s not equipped for that many: kitchen is small with little storage and indoor table sits 5. Apart from that the cabin was ok and, the lake is beautiful.

The views, sunrise, and landscape make for a beautiful location. Unique lake and calm, very nice. Not busy on a perfect weather weekend like other lakes I think due to the private launch and half the lakefront is State Forest (most of the east shore). House was exactly as described and very peaceful at night. The main house living room is relaxing with plenty of seating after a busy day fishing. Be sure to bring all your food and supplies since the general store down the road closes for the season on labor day and the nearest town grocery store is expensive and limited in supply. Both buildings have air conditioning which is rare for camps but it was great to walk into due to a warmer than usual weekend in the 80s. Fishing could've been better, mostly smaller bass, perch, and panfish. Upon leaving we stopped at a local tackle shop, great place, but the older woman running the shop said most action is in July. Tried deeper water trolling rigs (only 40-60') but I think we were still not deep enough. Shores drop off quick and the DEC map isnt real accurate. If you have boat skills you'll be fine on this lake otherwise pay attention to low spots and underwater rocks. Luckily we had enough people keeping track of all sides so it was no big deal. Hope to return!

This was the perfect spot for my Family of 4 (5 if you include our Lab Big Turk). We made last minute plans as we benefitted from someone’s cancellation. As we prepared for our trip we were pleased with Dave’s thoroughness in the description. Every question we had in terms of what we needed to bring was answered. That being said, there was little we needed to bring other than food, drinks and paper products. We had the most wonderful time. My in-laws came and ended up staying longer than anticipated as they were having such a good time. There was lots for the kids to do. My 4 year old caught a bunch of fish and really enjoyed swimming in the lake. It is pretty murky near the shore and weedy off the dock, but we still swam most days. We spent most days fishing, swimming and playing games on the deck. There is a sweet 4 burner Weber grill we used daily. My son and I made regular use of the hot tub as well. Night time was filled with bonfires, s’mores and cocktails. Surprisingly very few bugs near the fire (lakeside was a different story). The boat was a huge bonus. I didn’t know we would use it so much but it really gives you an opportunity to experience the whole lake and do some better fishing. It will be a must for any rental for me in the future. I had a little issue with the boat (user error) and Dave quickly returned my call walking me through an easy fix. I would definitely rent this property again, and any property from Dave. A few pieces of advice - the little market in Edwards is wonderful, though they have very little in terms of groceries. The trip to Gouverneur is kind of a pain so having extra booze/water/snacks is a good idea. The liquor store in Gouverneur is weak. We ended going to Canton as we are a little particular about wine (1:20 round trip). Overall 5 star, pull the trigger you won’t be disappointed.

2nd time here and never a disappointment had a great time fishing lake and swimming. Clean lake and found a quaint beach with access to State Park. House was clean, neat, and had all amenities noted in listing… no surprises which is very nice! Bedrooms in main house are nice size and beds are comfortable.
