"The staff were all welcoming and service was excellent. The room was small but surprisingly quiet for a public house. My only significant criticism about the room was that it was cold in the evening and overnight – I had to use the duvets from both single beds. Guests are warned not to change the thermostat on the underfloor heating."

"The property is absolutely lovely and the staff are excellent. The breakfast is also really great. The location is perfect. We really enjoyed our stay and want to come back. The only minor negatives were, the TV is ridiculously small and most of the Freeview channels don’t work due to low or poor signal - surely a hotel in 2025 can resolve this issue? It would have been nice to get a complimentary bottle of water every day and not just on arrival. The WiFi kept dropping and we had to keep...

"The hotel is located in the wonderful setting of Ickworth Park. Lots of fantastic walks and no traffic to disturb the tranquility of the countryside. We usually stay in the Premier Inn in Bury St Edmunds when visiting our son but, surprisingly, that chain is now outpricing itself against much more superior hotels such as this one. The bedroom retained all its charm of a bygone age including what appeared to be some of the original antique furniture. We had a wonderful view overlooking the gardens. Breakfast was excellent. Plentiful parking. Highly recommended."
