"In the past two years, I have stayed at a lot of hotels, and I have never encountered such a quality establishment as this one. The room is excellent. The bathroom is excellent. The fixtures, top-notch. Even the water pressure in the shower lol… The staff are equally amazing. Shannon, the assistant manager, is par excellence. Nicole, who works the morning shift, is excellent. Theon is also excellent. I never wanna stay in another hotel. True story. Thank y'all; don't change a thing! 😁🙌👏👏 Dave"

Wingate by Wyndham Chesapeake

2/10 Terrible

"The only good thing about this trip was the young lady who worked at the front desk. The room was old and dated and had a smell, we were supposed to have a dining room table and it was a folding table. Half of the outlets didn’t work, the bathroom was kept up well but everything was either peeling or covered in plaster. The front desk area is the only thing that looks maintained. The pool was closed. I’ve stayed at the Wingate in Short Pump and it’s very nice and the folks are hospitable, the gentleman who works Saturday nights was very rude and could not even help us with the Wi-Fi that didn’t work also. Just a truly awful experience that has turned me off from Wingate altogether."

"Our stay didn’t start out the greatest due to the gentleman working the front desk acting like we were bothering him by checking in. He was quick to get us checked in but was very unfriendly and seemed annoyed. The room felt clean for the most part, the linens were clean and bathroom was also. But staff need to pay greater attention to detail. The walls are stained, bed sheets very sloppily made, some small pieces of trash not picked up, and the throw pillows not arranged but just laid on the couch. Breakfast was good, very nice and clean breakfast room with lots of options of food and drink. The bar area in the seating area had a terrible roof leak so the constant dripping noise and view of sopping wet towels was a bit off putting. Overall we slept well and had our general needs met but failed to see the reason this place is rated as “excellent”."

"Door wouldn’t work to the room so they gave us a different room and it was a downgrade that smelled funny. The water in the shower barely got warm and then was cold within 2 minutes. The door not working and room change caused us to be late to the concert we were there for. The website and phone in the room advertising room service but they don’t offer room service so I went to the restaurant to order breakfast and it took over an hour to get the food. And when I got it back to the room the order was wrong . I was very unimpressed with the service and the hotel"

"The clean rooms and breakfast were great, but they clean up breakfast early before the cutoff time, so get there early."

"It was a a nice stay! There were some nice people staying there as well as some of the staff were excellent. The security guard on night shift was very nice to my family and I. I would recommend this place if you’re in Hampton Virginia"
