Built in 1886, our light-filled home is a true gem and an ideal mountain gateway that boasts a rustic interior, a pristine kitchen with new appliances, and a spacious patio with a grill and a fire pit. Ample privacy is provided by the towering pine tree and a row of lilac bushes. It's a piece of history lovingly restored to offer you a unique and unforgettable stay. The interior features original hardwood floors and exposed log walls that transport you to a bygone era. Experience the charm of yesteryear without sacrificing the conveniences of today.
The house has undergone several expansions over time, resulting in additional structures being attached to the original log home. Which also added a few steps to navigate up and down throughout the first floor (watch your step). The bedrooms were built in 1939, and the mudroom/bar area was added in 1953. They didn't have master bathrooms back then. The first-floor bathroom is closer to the kitchen and mud room. The combination of the new structures with the original log cabin creates a captivating living space with unique characteristics.

This was a perfect place for the 5 of us, nearby access to hiking and city amenities in a lovely cabin that felt quaint but very well-appointed! We would definitely stay here again!
This was a unique place to stay and I mean that in the best way possible! The house is a mixture of historical elements and modern comfort with a unique layout. The beds were comfortable, the neighborhood quiet and the house was stocked with everything we needed. AND…we got to share the yard with a family of deer!!! It was amazing to look out the window and see the deer eating leaves off the bushes and then helping themselves to a nap in the sunshine. SO COOL!
We had a blast in Gunnison again, this property was perfect for our group of 5. The property is cute, very clean, close to everything in town.
There are quite a few steps in the home between living areas, I’m sure it was noted in the pictures, but for grandparents with us it was a bit challenging. Also, the main bath is not connected to the main bedroom meaning steps to be navigated during the night. Not a negative, just something to be aware of :)
Cute house, MANY stairs that were not super friendly for young children. Beds were incredibly comfortable though! The laundry set up is not ideal, the trap door is terrifying. Great location for quick access to the college/football stadium.
Accessing the house was easy. The location is wonderful for ease of getting around town with ability to walk most places in town. The downstairs layout is not great - the “master” bathroom is on the opposite of the house, with several stairs to go up and down - not an easy path to take during the night.
The property was perfect for our needs! We stayed here while commuting up to Crested Butte to ski each day. The house was cozy and had everything we needed. We had fun noticing everything that had been purchased at IKEA, haha. We even utilized the washer and dryer in the basement. The entire trip was so much fun!
Clean, comfortable, easy access through the back alley of the house. Beautiful deer bedded down in the yard daily. The kitchen is large and well stocked with a large mud room off the kitchen. There are many places in this home where 2-3 steps are required to move between rooms, other than the main staircase. This requires careful negotiation in the dark. The top of the main staircase has no handrail. The main floor bathroom is off the mud room. A few blocks walk to the grocery store and other shopping and to Western Colorado University. We used this home as our base for hiking in Crested Butte.
