Renovated, and with one of the few restaurants, where we only got the chance of having dessert since we came late. "The room was comfortable, if smaller than some we have used and there were no tea/coffee making facilities but generally OK. Staff were friendly and helpful although parking could be better (we have a disabled badge and parked on-street which was more convenient). Breakfast was good.
The surrounding area was fairly scruffy as clearly this part of Rostock is still in the process of development/improvement. Restaurants were on the other side of what was effectively a dual carriageway with few convenient crossing points but a good choice of outlets.
Rostock as a whole is not an obvious place to visit but there is plenty to see from both the historic and communist eras. The beach resort of Warnemunde is good for high-end shopping and eating although the beach itself is a disappointment. Bad Doberan is worth a visit for the minster church and the "Molli" narrow-gauge railway."

"Liked the area, it was close to everything. They posted that the street to the hotel was going to be closed Sunday morning at 8am until 6pm in the elevator in German only. Had to get to a cruise Sunday afternoon, thank goodness for Google Translate. No heads up when we checked in."
