"The room was ok acceptable for the price range. It was so refreshing unplugging from the internet. We have a 5 year old daughter and initially we were not excited about it but hey it worked! More family time, being outdoors! The brochure said there will be at least one board game in the room but ours didn’t have one and when we asked the front desk they offered us the puzzle. I suggest having more younger kid friendly board games available too! The coffee shop was good but I felt like at the times I went it was busy so they were running around. The gift shop lady who helped us was not friendly at all. Not sure if it was because we were there early or what, she didn’t engaged on any conversation, no human connection. The front desks staff were all helpful. Overall, we loved Big Sur Lodge and we will definitely go back especially when the pool is open since its so cold to even walk by the river! "

"The Lucia server staff was excellent, but food seriously overpriced and menu was fairly unimaginative. Prices on alcohol drinks very high. Front desk staff seems reactive rather than proactive. Check in process was overly lengthy and clumsy."

"Most importantly, the bedsheets had large stains including potentially blood. This is 1. disgusting and 2. suggests the possibility of bedbugs, although I did not see any or see other evidence of them. Also important: The inner lock on the door was missing, making it impossible to secure the door beyond the key-lock, which felt a little less comfortable. Less important: The lighting in the room was terrible. But the staff were all very kind and helpful! Five stars to them."
