"We had a nice room (top floor of a two-storey townhouse). The room was clean and well appointed. We saw deer from the rear balcony as well as when we were walking/driving through the property. Having a BBQ on the front balcony was a nice feature. We did not use any of the amenities. In part, because we had other plans in the area, but also some were closed (early September and transitioning into Fall/Winter hours), they were a little far from our room (drive not walk) and it wasn't always perfectly clear what was available/included (but we really own that for not asking). Great proximity to the Shenandoah National Park and local caves."

"The hotel was very unique with the English themed decorations. We really enjoyed the tea and cookies that were available on Sunday afternoon. Loved the proximity to UVA Grounds. We will definitely stay here again."

"The staff was excellent- I had a problem that she offered the perfect solution for. She apologized (even though it wasn’t the hotels fault) and corrected the issue quickly and professionally. All of the staff were friendly and welcoming. The hotel pool was closed (renovation) and the exercise facility had minimal weights. Breakfast was good and always had dress cold water and coffee available. Overall a very good place to stay (stayed 3 night), and will do so again."

"Accommodations were rustic as expected and all functional. Only the main lodge has views (no A/C for those rooms if that matters), Likely to see deer walking through the area without much concern for humans. There is a rugged climb to an outcrop for a great view of the valley nearby. Food was good (expensive as expect but not a wow) Blackberry Cobbler is the exception however."

"It is a beautiful place and the amenities were nice! Very nice pool, hiking trails, places to go and things to do. I did the trail rides (loved this the most). The room was clean and welcoming and had excellent water pressure!!! The restaurant had delicious, homemade food with a very customer focused staff. The customer service did not disappoint. I’ll be going back."

"If you are looking for inexpensive place to put your head down for a couple of days, this motel is perfect. It is reasonably clean (no citrusy aromas but no bugs either). The TV channels are very limited, especially if you’re a sports fan. The refrigerator was broken when we arrived but after notifying front desk, we received a working one within minutes. The refrigerators are outdated big time, however clean and functional. The microwave was very clean and in working order. The bathroom was immaculate, with a working hair dryer and necessary toiletries. The desk chair was broken and almost caused an accident. The windows need a good scrub, or even replacement, but I can’t imagine that there is enough money coming in for such a project. Most importantly, since we were here in the middle of the blistering season, the air conditioning worked perfectly and made the room a great relief to come back to. I can’t say enough about the staff. They are a family working together and they make you feel like you came to visit them at their own house. Their warm and helpful attitude made any hiccup’s inconsequential."
