Exterior great. The cottage was full of flies, couldn't find a fly swatter had to drive to Grayling to buy one. Spent over an hour killing them and they kept coming, even in the refrigerator. Everything smelled old and stale including the bedding. Extremely worn couch, misshaped cushions with a lot of dirt, crumbs, doghair under. Only 2 beds suitable for an adult, rest were like kid's summer camp. Multiple wifi networks and passwords provided, none worked. Our adult children were supposed to join us we told them not to come. Booked four nights, left after the first.

A very sweet cabin right on the Ausable. We enjoyed falling asleep listening to the river and had a great time fishing, swimming, relaxing in this beautiful space.

Before I even found this listing, I had pictured in my minds eye, an old school cabin, in Northern Michigan on a bend of a river. The first pic I saw of this property absolutely fit the script! We had three adults, three kids and one dog. The cabin is really cool, lots of taxidermy and a true up north vintage feel. We also rented the pine bend fly shop game room, well worth it if you have kids or people that want to game. My critiques are few and little. The kitchen could be better prepared in the pots and pans department and some of the light bulbs were burnt out in the house which I wound up replacing. A better description of the HVAC and what the two thermostats control would be good too. Bottom line, we had a great time and I will rent again!

The cabin was a dream. Excellent location, with easy access to local lakes and rivers. Hope to return again.

Cute location but for the price needs a few updates. The mattresses in the bunk rooms are what I would expect at a kids summer camp. I would not suggest that any adults or adult size teens sleep in the bunk beds or in the twin beds. The mattress in the main bedroom and in the full bed were normal mattresses and just fine. The shower in the bunk room is tiny and in the summer it's warm and there are limited fans to keep the air circulating. Listing lists wifi. They do have a hotspot in the cabin but do not plan on trying to work or even stream social medial using the wifi. It can be used for very basic things but you will have to go into town to access wifi if you need to do anything other than just e-mails or texts. Would suggest that the owners stay and experience it as a guest. The second shower is really painful and could likely be resolved by just cleaning the shower head. The sprinklers come on early in the morning and the water hits the satellite dish waking up everyone on that side of the house since in the summer there isn't any AC and the windows are open. Given the price per night there are some simple improvements that need to be made. If the owners were a guest in their own place for a few days I think they would see the changes that need to be made considering the price that is being charged.

The pics do not do this location justice. I have two friends who fly up every year, and they (and meself) were mesmerized by the property and the river. We stayed for for 4 nights and couldn't get enough. The house has everything you need for a long weekend. Firewood was fresh. Already looking at other properties from the same owner for next year. Eleven out of ten.

What a wonderful stay! The cabin’s decor welcomes you to a true “up north” experience. Beautiful fly fishing spots for my husband, great tubing for our daughters and a fantastic reading spot for me! There is plenty of room inside the cabin with all modern amenities. The screened in deck is the thing that you just can’t get with other rentals. You are literally feet from the water. The master bedroom, with 2 walls of windows, is picturesque. At night we would leave a couple of the windows cracked to hear the water from bed! The owners were so welcoming and even gave a tour of the nearby larger lodge. The entire property is magical. What an experience we will treasure forever!

Beautiful cabin located steps from the Au Sable River. Quiet and peaceful setting, far enough away from town, yet close enough to many fine Restaurants and Taverns. Cabin is very comfortable, clean, and in great working order. Optional game room is perfect for entertainment for the whole family or group. Owners were available to answer any questions, and were genuinely concerned that our stay was everything we expected. Very pleased with the entire experience.

Pine Bend Cottage is absolutely wonderful. The cottage was the home to nine ladies during our annual golf weekend. The cottage is in perfect condition, beautifully decorated and well stocked with everything you need - kitchen and bathroom supplies, firewood, outdoor chairs...etc. There are four bedrooms. Two bedrooms have bunk beds, one has a queen and the fourth room has two twin beds. One of the bottom bunks has a full mattress so two kids could sleep together - it would be too small for two adults. The bathrooms are updated and super clean. One of the bathrooms is in a bunk room and thus made that a high traffic room. The bathroom itself is very small (but clean and updated). The cabin is on a large private lot with plenty of space to play outdoor games or simply relax and enjoy the river and woods. The screened in outdoor porch was a great gathering spot to enjoy our morning coffee. We would go back in a heart beat. You will not be disappointed.

While booking, we felt it is a bit overpriced! After we entered the premises, we felt it is indeed under-priced! A fabulous, serene, outstandingly clean, spacious, well-managed, retreat! Hosts, William and Krystin, both are wonderful, helping and caring. LOVED IT!!! If we have an opportunity in future, we will do it again without a hesitation!!!

We can not say enough wonderful things about our time at the Pine Bend cabin. William and Krystin made us feel so welcome before we even checked in. Upon check-in we were blown away by the beautiful cabin. My husband and I are Realtors so we can be kinda of picky, but we were quite impressed with all of the modern updates, but unique charm of the cabin. Every detail and comfort was thought of when preparing the cabin for us. Even the mattresses were great and everyone who rents cabins knows that rarely is the case. The grounds were amazing also. More beautiful than the pictures could ever do justice. We fished, hiked, sat around bonfires and most importantly enjoyed each other's company. If you are looking for a wonderful get away I sincerely recommend the cabin!
