My family was in GR for my daughter’s graduation from college. We needed a centrally located place that could accommodate 10 adults. This place checked all the boxes except parking was a bit of an issue for multiple cars.
The siblings all gathered for Mom's birthday. The livingroom and dinning room were perfect for the gathering. The large TV and couch in the livingroom made the PowerPoint presentation seem like a movie.
5 ladies enjoyed our stay here in this charming home. We each had our own room and we shared 2 bathrooms. The kitchen, dining, and living room gave us common area to hang out together in the morning and evenings. We had 3 cars between us and never had an issue with parking. Our host, Gina, was very responsive with any questions we had prior to our stay as well as during. It was easy to find and we loved the quiet neighborhood.
There’s definitely some pros and cons at this property, but considering we were in a pinch with no other options at the time, this was a good stay for us.
Pros:
-The host is SO responsive and helped us out with pricing in a pinch. I couldn’t appreciate that more.
-The house is in walking distance to some really great restaurants.
-It sleeps a ton of people which is hard to find.
-The host provides the basics (TP, paper towels, dishes, etc.) which is very helpful.
-SO MUCH CLOSET SPACE.
-On-site pack and play is a life saver for those families who want to travel without it.
-8-seater dining table is great for large groups.
Potential Cons:
-This is an older house donevery step squeaks LOUDLY and there are some soft spots. If the charm of old wood floors is your thing, this will be your dream. If you have light sleepers or plan to sneak, you might not stand a chance. Lol
-The accessories (side tables, blinds, bedding) in the bedrooms are cheap, which can be understandable given it’s a rental. But if you have kids, one swipe at the bedroom blinds results in their demise. Be mindful of the kiddos because they’re likely to cause damage here.
-The stairs are VERY steep.
-One bathroom upstairs for four bedrooms is a bit tricky to navigate.
-The sheets and bedding seem like microfiber which caused a lot of sweating. I imagine this is helpful in the winter months but we came during summer and there were no fans.
Overall, this was a good stay for our large group!
Great place to stay, quiet neighborhood, worked great for me and coworkers. Much better than living in a hotel for months. Owners were great to work with. Parking was sometimes a issue for 5 of us. But we made it work. Would for sure stay again
We came for our daughter's graduation. There were eight of us, although not all at once as people arrived on different days. The house was perfect for that kind of scenario. The only reason I gave it four stars instead of five is because the house is still a work in progress. I believe we were either the first to stay or one of the first and the owners are still getting everything in place. I hope they'll put in a dishwasher and change out the dining room table for something that seats more than four. Overall, though, it was a nice place and we very much appreciated being able to all have our own bedrooms and be right in Grand Rapids.
