THE APARTMENT: Ocean View Apartment is a two-bedroom modern oceanfront/beach penthouse apartment in the picturesque town of El Medano (Spanish for ‘The Sand Dune’), on the southern part of the island of Tenerife, in the Canary Islands. It has amazing beach/ocean views and is surrounded by a natural reserve. It has one double room – with a double bed and sliding doors opening onto our massive balcony/sunbathing terrace – and a twin room – containing two single beds. Both bedrooms are fitted with built-in wardrobes. The bathroom is spacious and features a big walk-in shower with a large shower head – for a relaxing experience after a day in the sun! – and a storing cupboard – for all your beauty products. The living-room area has a dining-room table with four chairs, a very large and comfy corner sofa, a flat-screen HD TV – including all your favourite UK subscription channels – a DVD player, a book-and-DVD library, and a reading corner – with an armchair. Our modern kitchen features a fridge freezer, an oven, a washing machine, a microwave oven, an induction cooktop, a juicer, a coffee maker, a toaster, and all kitchenware and cupboard essentials! Also in the kitchen, there is a cupboard containing an iron, an ironing board, and cleaning and laundry products. Our front balcony is so massive that we refer to it as our sunbathing terrace. It has outdoor furniture – including a dining table and chairs, sun loungers, and a clothes drying rack – and priceless breathtaking ocean views – from the Red Mountain to Pelada Mountain, the other volcanic cone in El Medano. On a clear day, you can even see Gran Canaria from your bed!
COVID-19 SAFETY PRACTICES: During these uncertain times, we’re making sure to follow all professional advice to ensure a safe stay for all our guests. What we’re doing:
*Wearing a mask when interacting in person with our guests.
*Requesting all guests wear a mask or face covering when interacting in person with their host or cleaning staff.
*Maintaining 6 feet/2 meters of distance at all times when interacting in person with our guests.
*Requesting all guests maintain 6 feet/2 meters of distance at all times when interacting in person with their host or cleaning staff.
*Following steps to enhanced cleaning and safety measures in between guests. These include blocking 48hrs in between guests, ventilating the apartment before and during cleaning, using disinfectants approved for use against COVID-19, washing and disinfecting our hands and wearing a mask and gloves while cleaning, etc.
*Providing a COVID-19 personal-safety kit as part of our welcome basket for our guests – including gloves, sanitizing hand gel, and masks.
EL MEDANO: The town boasts two of the largest natural beaches in Tenerife: the ‘Playa Grande’ and the ‘Playa Tejita’. Separating these beaches is ‘La Montana Roja’ (The Red Mountain), a volcanic cone (which you can actually see from the balcony!). It’s a great place to relax and unwind – on the beach with a book, snorkeling in the main bay, having a cocktail al fresco, going for a hike, etc. There is a large town square in front of the main beach (‘Playa Grande’), which holds many local ‘fiestas’ and spectacular public firework displays – with many pyrotechnics launched from the water of the main bay itself. The town square is dotted with many bars, cafés, and restaurants where you can have a coffee or eat Canarian tapas or seafood – washed down with some local wine or beer!
LOCATION: Our apartment is situated on Jaquita Beach – practically on the beach itself! This means a pleasant 10 minute walk on the seafront will get you to all local amenities but you can also enjoy a good night’s sleep – as you will not be disturbed by local festivals and events, which tend to be held regularly in the town centre – particularly during the summer months! Ocean View Apartment is about 10 minutes (8 kilometres) from ‘Aeropuerto Reina Sofia’ (Tenerife South Airport). Taxis and buses service the town from the airport itself. There are regular bus rides connecting the town to all major tourist destinations in the island – e.g. Santa Cruz, Las Americas, Los Cristianos, Puerto de la Cruz, etc.
WELCOME BASKET: We treat all our guests to a welcome basket containing fruit, chocolates, a bottle of red wine, and a COVID-19 personal-safety kit – including gloves, sanitizing hand gel, and masks.
CLEANING: For guests staying with us for longer than a week we offer cleaning and laundry services free of charge. Bed sheets, pillows, pillow cases, blankets, towels, and kitchen towels are provided and changed free of charge once a week! Everything is washed at 60°C (as per COVID-19 regulations).
GARAGE: If you are renting a car, you can also use our secured indoor car parking space for free! It is in a private drive-in garage with remote controlled doors.
ENTERTAINMENT: You can stream all your favourite shows using our super fast internet connection (via Wi-Fi; exclusive to our Ocean View Apartment!)
ACCESSIBILITY: The apartment is suitable for people with mobility issues as it can be accessed straight from the main gate or the garage via a lift. The building also features ramps.
WELCOME PACK: After booking with us, we provide you with a ‘Welcome Pack’ containing directions, check-in instructions, personal favourites in El Medano, tourist attraction recommendations across the island, etc. But, we are also happy to tailor your experience and make personal suggestions to your tastes and needs. Just ask!
