"I liked this hotel very much. It had a lot of charm for being an older hotel. There were some good restaurants right in the neighborhood. The staff was very nice and helpful especially with recommendations and directions. I would really like to stay here again on my next trip to Portland!"

"The room was clean and ready ahead of schedule which was convent for us as we traveled 5 hours to get there. We had a king suite Room #5 on the front of the building. Very close to the road and you could definitely hear the traffic. Not the Inns fault. The included breakfast was very good."

"We had an amazing stay at The Orchard House. The pictures do not do it justice. It is beautiful and special. We stayed in the Library Room. Very unique and spacious for 2 people. I am in love with the bed/mattress! The light breakfast served (coffee/tea, cereal, boiled eggs, juice, toast.etc) was perfect and a great way to start the day. "We were shocked at the prices for hotels in Portland (in my opinion a way, overrated town) so we stayed here primarily because of price. But it's a nice gem worth considering. Room was comfortable. Breakfast nice. Host welcoming. And walking distance to the Freeport outlets and across from that now-famous McDonald's located in a historic house. Definitely eat at the Jameson Tavern (walking). One of the best burgers we've had, great fries too. (If you are tired of lobster and high prices)."

We would have liked to have directions printed out for use of the TV and heating/cooling system in our room. The bed was comfortable and the entire place was very clean. "My wife and I had a delightful time at the historic Waldo Emerson Inn. The back half was built in 1753 and the front half in the 1780, yet this historic home had all the conveniences of the modern world: snug windows, heated bathroom floor, and easy to control heatng. "Don't be mistaken by first impressions as you drive up to this property. I'd like to call it a diamond in the rough. The host/owner, Bob will admit the property needs substantial renovations to the exterior but don't be misled. The property has it's charm and the location cannot be beat for the price. Park your car and forget it. Everything is within easy walking distance. This is our second time for this property and will definitely try to stay again next year. "

"The room was very comfortable, quiet and clean. There is a shared bathroom for the floor, which was fine for us since only one other room was occupied. (I don’t know how that goes when the inn is full.) We did not take advantage of any of the other common areas (living room w/TV, sitting room).
