Excellent location, walkable to many places, very neat and clean rooms, helpful staff. Mr. Yaseen is super nice. Neighboring to a laundromat and a 24/7 Transmart. I have no objections. However they have wooden floors, if you are a light sleeper then that might be an issue for you
Miss Yang at the front desk is very kind and helpful. The location is within easy access to everything, there are a great variety of food options around.
Helpful happy staff. Great spot with heaps of charm in a central location. It's an older building but well updated and kept. Good aircon and wifi. Ask for a room away from Chulia st though, its really loud.
The property is located right at the heart of the city and in front of Kapitan Keling Mosque, one of the many landmarks and touristic attractions of Georgetown.
The staff was very polite and helpful, and the property is very nice and has this very nice style.
Our room was spacious, very comfortable and we had a very nice view from the mosque (only issue was being awakened by it at 5 AM every morning, but they had earplugs at the reception to help with that).
Good location and easy check in and check out. The third floor doesnt have a bathroom so you have to go down to the lower levels anytime you need to do something. Facilites are fine but a lot of moisquitoes
The vibe is very cozy here. I was shocked with how nice it was, I didn’t expect it to be so clean and well decorated. A kind of simple but elegant feel. I enjoyed the books in the cozy nook they had in the second floor, and the staff was very nice too. Mo blessed me with some new music recommendations which I was shocked how much I loved it, something you don’t get from any random, transactional accommodation. This is a place to feel grounded, comfortable, & at home amidst your travels in Penang. Will definitely choose to stay here again next time in Penang, which I wouldn’t confidently say often about hotels/hostels.
Echoing other reviews, noise is a significant problem here

Noisy but overall pretty good
Hostel was pretty comfortable, but no provacy curtains. Really loud as opposite the mosque amd a major road, the ear plugs provided help very little, even though i realise that is not their fault. Just be aware of a 5am wake up call every morning. Showers and toilets separated and just like the pictures. Not social at all though. Overall good but depends on how heavy a sleeper you are

Could be better
The room smelled musty so I couldn’t sleep all night long. I was on the top bunk and it was dark so I fell when I tried to come down. The other occupants took the aircon remote control so it got really hot and humid at night. There were many bugs in the room and the washroom area.

Leider hatte ich in dem Doppelzimmer Bettwanzen. Außerdem ist es extrem laut, wenn man ein Raum in der Nähe von der Bar hat
The first night I was in an 8 bed mixed dorm and it was very noisy. There is a mosque nearby and I was woken up at 5:30am and 6:30am from it. I was also able it hear noise form people walking outside of the room. The next two nights, I was in a 4 bed female dorm and it was so much better. It was very quite.
Great location. Heart of Georgetown. Easy to walk around or less than 2 mins to a bus stop in either direction. Street art, food, bars are all right there.
Friendly staff and enough space to get some quiet time in one of several common areas. Has a TV area but I never watched anything so can’t say much on that.
Was there for 7 nights and slept great every night. The prayers can be loud, but I don’t know if anywhere in the area is quiet, so buy some earplugs if you are a light sleeper.
First of all, the staffs are superb nice. Thank you so much. I stayed in dorm and there was no curtain. There is a window in the room but it cannot be opened, and the light came from the hallway through the window was bothering me when I sleep.
Everthing is good except for the towel. Not so clean, eventhough i have requested for a second towel. Just remember to bring your own towel. Other than that, I have a pleasant stay
