Genoa has one of the largest and best preserved historical centres in Europe: 18 km of medieval city walls, an intricate labyrinth of narrow streets, several small and characteristic squares, rich in churches, old buildings with splendid paintings, historical palaces. The old harbour is home to the second largest aquarium in Europe, the Maritime Museum and the Bigo panoramic lift by Renzo Piano. The equipped beaches, restaurants, bars and nightclubs are not far away. Genoa organises many cultural events and shows throughout the year. The hinterland offers several hiking trails, mountain bike routes and trekking tours with horses.
