"The property itself was beautiful, and dining in the restaurant accompanied by a pianist was a truly wonderful experience. The food was exceptional, and I couldn’t fault it. However, the hotel room was disappointing in comparison. It was looking rather tired, with chipped paint on the furniture, a missing drawer knob, and a very ordinary bathroom that didn’t quite live up to the elegance of the property. Additionally, there was an empty champagne bottle left outside our room when we arrived, which detracted from the overall first impression. While the setting, food, and live music were excellent, the condition and presentation of the room fell short of expectations."

"Amazing hotel with exceptional staff, the service was brilliant. Food at breakfast and in the restaurant was very good. Room was large and had all the facilities you’d need. It is a city centre hotel on the corner of busy roads, so there can be some noise at night (only noticed it on one of our nights). Benefit of location is that you are within walking distance of City Hall, St George’s Market and we did walk back from Titanic Museum (40 mins). So definitely positives outweigh any negatives."

"As soon as we walked through the door, we knew we made the right choice. The restaurant/bar area was beautiful and cozy. The hotel staff was welcoming. Our room was nicely decorated, and the bay window view of the sea was gorgeous. I will stay at the Avoca any time that I return to Newcastle."

"Well communicated contactless check in, beautiful property and rooms, cute little town, and the breakfast was good! Coffee was great, Charlie makes a great flat white! Parking can be a little bit of a nuisance, and like many historical properties no elevator so if you need help with your luggage plan ahead as the property is not always staffed. Lovely. Also Forrest Park is not to far down the road if you would like a lovely walk around the lake. the Parson's Nose is quite good as a dinner option - in walking distance of the property."

"I would definitely stay here again- the staff were great, the beds were very comfortable and the breakfast was varied and delicious (i had porridge with honey the first day and french toast the second day- there was also cooked food available and a range of continental items). The front desk was extremely helpful in finding us another room as the first one didn’t meet our requirements. It obviously is very popular/busy as a consequence it’s looking a little tired and worn. It could use some minor maintenance-eg paint, cleaning the grout in the showers, etc. We would definitely stay at the hotel again."
