"Property was as shown in the listing. Owner was very helpful and easy to communicate with. Really close to Front Royal for groceries and restaurants, but feels secluded. We weren't able to swim because the river was a bit high, but the steps down to the river are a cool hike with pretty rock formations. There were tons of fireflies in July for our kid to chase, and a big flat grassy area if you like lawn games. The outdoor fireplace was def better than a fire pit in terms of steering the smoke away from us. This place would be nice in the winter too -- cozy with the big fireplace inside (as long as you have AWD for the steep road in). "

"We had a truly wonderful stay at the Shenandoah Mountain House Guest Suite! From start to finish, the communication was top-notch—clear, responsive, and genuinely thoughtful, which made everything feel seamless and welcoming.The location itself is unbeatable: nestled in the mountains with serene surroundings but still incredibly convenient to go into town for whatever you need (including a few hidden gem restaurants that were great!) It was the perfect balance of peaceful retreat and accessibility.The property is absolutely beautiful and clearly maintained with a lot of care and intention. The furnishings strike the perfect note between comfort and charm, and there are so many lovely, well-chosen details that made the space feel special, such as the beautiful plates and quirky kitchen utensils that added an extra layer of charm. It’s obvious that a lot of love went into designing and equipping the space, not just for aesthetics, but for real guest comfort and appreciation.One thing to note is that our check-in ended up being delayed by a couple hours due to someone checking out the morning of. If you need a strict check-in time, would recommend checking with the host about that closer to your reservation.Overall, we couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would absolutely return. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a peaceful, well-appointed mountain escape. We will certainly be staying here again!"

"We had an amazing time at this cabin along the Shenandoah River. It was a very private secluded area. We enjoyed the wildlife and sounds of the birds as we drank our morning coffee/tea. The driveway entrance was a little tricky getting in and out of and we were thankful that we did not encounter anyone else on the private lane from the 2 other cabins there. Cabin was stocked with essentials. I would say that it was a bit dusty here and there but that is life in the woods. You could see glimpses of the river from the porch. Also, there is some road noise but minimal. There is also a train that goes by the cabin from time to time and it can be very loud, but we had no issues with it at night. Overall, great location. We will be back for sure."

"This place re-centers my wife and I. Even with full electronic access to the outside world, we really have no desire to partake in it as the natural surroundings just resets our souls. Thanks again John for a wonderful stay!"

"Our stay at Bala’s home was wonderful. The location right on the river is perfect for a relaxing getaway. A very close drive to the National Park and Front Royal. The home is updated nicely and amenities are well stocked, above average kitchen supplies from the typical vacation rental. Do note that there are no tvs in the bedrooms which we appreciated but some may not. Overall it was great. "
