A week for work out of Fort Nelson. Pros: inexpensive, breakfast on site. Conn: room was a bit warmer than is my preference.

The location is good; right off the Alcan. On the frontage road, the area is easy and safe to walk. The room was comfortable, except for seating. I was disappointed the pool was not open, and when the light went out in the bathroom it was "after hours - that is, 7 pm" and my sense was I was on my own in the hotel.

There wasn’t anyone at the desk when I checked in or checked out. The clerk was really nice when she showed up a couple of minutes later though. It is an older property and was in serious need of repair. They advertised a complimentary breakfast but no one was around and I couldn’t find it. Apparently there is only someone working there from 7a - 7p.

The hotel was ok. Upon entering and exiting during close of business hours, there was no room key slide to access main doors or exit doors. You would need to prop open the door with a improvised tree stick or a rock to exit and enter the building. The place felt like there was a lack of security. The curtains in the room looked like it was not maintained well. There were stains and the curtains looked filthy with lack of maintenance. The room felt and looked like it was dirty but maybe it could be because of an excessive amount of usage and lack of replacement of the equipment. Basically, the place looked like it had a lack of cleanliness and lack of good upkeep condition. And there were no microwave inside the room.

Oasis in Fort Nelson
I look forward to staying at this hotel every time I drive the AlCan. It is unique and fun. It is always very clean and the family that operates the hotel are very kind and professional. This is a must stay for the AlCan adventure!
