Kirkgate Cottage – Countryside Living
Kirkgate Cottage is a charming rural retreat set in the peaceful hamlet of Balkeerie, surrounded by the beautiful countryside of Angus. Blending traditional furnishings with contemporary artwork and modern comforts, the cottage offers a welcoming and relaxed base for guests looking to unwind in a quiet setting.
Inside, the cottage has a warm and comfortable feel, with thoughtfully chosen furnishings that complement the character of the property. The space is designed to make relaxing easy, whether you are enjoying a quiet evening indoors or returning after a day exploring the surrounding countryside.
The cottage shares a lovely garden with the neighbouring farmhouse. Expansive lawns, flowerbeds and an orchard create a peaceful outdoor space where guests can enjoy the fresh country air. It is an ideal spot for morning tea, or for letting a dog enjoy the outdoors under supervision.
Trails and Walks Nearby
There are plenty of walking opportunities within easy reach of the cottage. Whether you prefer gentle woodland strolls, historic landmarks or more scenic countryside routes, the surrounding area offers a variety of options, including:
• Glamis Forest and River Walk • Glamis Castle and Angles Park Circular • Balmashanner Hill, Forfar • Forfar Loch and the wider Forfar Path Network
Important to Note
While there are many excellent walks nearby, walking directly from the cottage grounds is limited, as reaching marked trails or country paths usually requires crossing one or more main roads. Most guests choose to take a short drive and park near the start of local routes, which allows easy access to some of the area’s most rewarding scenery. Standard Checkout by 10am No Smoking

We wanted a short break in a quiet location with the capacity to accomodate our small dog. This property had a nice enclosed garden, was convenient for local towns and also the coast. It fitted the bill perfectly.
