"Nice, clean, and stylish hotel with a good location and comfortable rooms. The staff were friendly and the overall atmosphere was pleasant. The only downsides were that the breakfast selection was quite limited, and there is no gym/fitness facility in the hotel. Other than that, it was a good stay overall."

"When we arrived at the hotel a show was s the room , small little windows, larger window view a meter of window a roof smell like the room has not been open for a few days! Maybe because Air conditioning was off, room near breakfast! It were noises of doors closing , also from breakfast area! We were walk up at 6am because the window above our bed had no some block as the other ones so the light went straight to our faces! Next day told them about the noises and the window , so they came they cover the window with a cardboard boxes and tape!! Noises of the doors stop ! Breakfast , limited facilities but Irene went out of her way to help us!! Eggs were cold and first day they warm then up on a microwave!! This is a 4 star hotel!! Location for us was excellent !Prefer not to had all those inconveniences!! The staff trying to help, but so much they can do!"

"The hotel was beautiful and the staff were all pleasant and super helpful. There are a number of good restaurants nearby and the main sites are well within walking distance. The room was exceptionally beautiful and spacious with top class linens. "

"Il Principe is one of the best located hotels in Catania, close to all the main sights and easy walking distance to Square, Monastery, Fish Market etc. The Staff were exceptionally helpful . The reception area's, and Breakfast room had plenty of space and nicely decorated with marble. 2 person lift to all floors. The hotel had somewhere for the luggage on our last day. There was alway someone on reception. The area was quiet and felt safe. Breakfast had a good variety, hot scrambled eggs or boiled, bacon, mushrooms. Cold ham and cheese, yogurts, cereals, croissants. Fruit juice and coffee. The room was a good size and double aspect. Our room had a shower, which was adequate but could have done with updating. Bed was large but a little firmer than we are used to. Towels, hairdryer etc provided. Air conditioning was excellent. Unfortunately there was no kettle or coffee maker in the room, although there was a fridge and safe. I don't think we could have got a hotel that was in a better spot, ideal to pop back to in the day for a rest."

"Owners were reasonably available for an establishment without a regular paid staff; communication easy and good. Shared bathroom was sparkling clean and usually/reasonably available for the 5 rooms using it. Delicious breakfast options available. Restaurants, convenience stores, and a vital gelato place were within a very short walk; prices very reasonable and service good. Key tourist sites were within a few minutes walk. The neighborhood is/was declining, is noisy and busy with local activity, but it felt safe and was interesting. A delightful break from soulless glitz and high cost tourist traps. I travel to see and meet people, experience local life--5 Balconi beautifully supported my goals. Also, quick and easy taxi access from and to the airport and other destinations. Clients when I was there ranged from a young couple from New Zealand, a mature couple from the Netherlands, a mid-40s business couple, and late-70s me from the US.
