Location: Santa Maria Novella Neighborhood
Casamanda is ideally located in Borgo Ognissanti, a charming, centrally located street in Florence’s Santa Maria Novella district. You'll be just steps away from:
Via dei Fossi, known for its antique shops and vintage boutiques
Via della Vigna Nuova and Via de’ Tornabuoni, Florence’s most prestigious shopping streets
A 15-minute walk to the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, and Oltrarno district
Local cafés, trattorias, wine bars, and artisan shops — all within easy walking distance
The nearest supermarket, just 4 minutes away on Via dei Fossi
The Santa Maria Novella train and tram station is only a 7–10-minute walk, providing easy access to regional towns and the airport.
Santa Maria Novella stretches along the Arno’s right bank and it is the first neighborhood to greet visitors after arriving at the area’s namesake railway station (by train or tram, line 1). The station and tram stop is a short 7-10 minute walk from the apartment. The Santa Maria Novella neighborhood contains the city's main exhibition center, a complex formed by the Palazzo dei Congressi, the Palazzo degli Affari and the Fortezza da Basso. Here, year after year the center hosts world famous events, such as the renowned Pitti Uomo and the International Handicraft Fair, which attract thousands of visitors worldwide. The neighborhood’s fulcrum is undoubtedly the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella, one of the city’s most important churches and an extraordinary example of Florentine Gothic architecture. Today the church is part of a larger museum complex (the Santa Maria Novella Museum), which besides the Basilica also gives access to the magnificent surrounding structures, such as the Grand Cloister and the Green Cloister. Among the other places of worship in the neighborhood, be sure not to miss the Santa Trinita Basilica (piazza di Santa Trinita) and the Church of Santi Michele e Gaetano (piazza Antinori), each located at one end of via de’ Tornabuoni. Last but not least, consider visiting the Church of Ognissanti featuring a Last Supper by Domenico Ghirlandaio (borgo Ognissanti, 42). This neighborhood also contains some of the city’s most important museums. More specifically, those dedicated to modern and contemporary art, such as the Museo Novecento (piazza Santa Maria Novella, 10) vaunting a collection of 20th-century works in an innovative layout, the Marino Marini Museum (piazza di S. Pancrazio), featuring the contemporary Tuscan artist’s many works, and Palazzo Strozzi (piazza degli Strozzi) which rotates classical art exhibitions with modern and contemporary art exhibitions, making it one of the most important exhibition spaces in Italy. Besides these magnificent spaces, the neighborhood is also home to the Museum of Palazzo Davanzati (via Porta Rossa, 13), where you’ll find a reconstruction of a medieval Florentine home (an excellent option when travelling with children), and finally, Museo Ferragamo (Palazzo Spini Feroni, piazza di Santa Trinita, 5 / R), where you can dive headfirst into the history of Italian fashion and the Ferragamo brand.
It’s easy to lose yourself among the streets of the Santa Maria Novella neighborhood, between via de 'Tornabuoni, via della Vigna Nuova and piazza della Repubblica... the streets offer a wide and varied selection of offerings for all budgets and tastes. You’ll find high-end clothing and accessories in a range of upscale fashion stores, but also more affordable clothing and unique goodies. If you’re looking for something really out of the ordinary, head to the Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella (via della Scala, 16), one of the city’s most beautiful historic pharmacies. Here, you can buy perfumes, soaps and essential oils prepared using the pharmacy’s age-old recipes – all inside an environment that exudes the air of Florence’s rich history and traditions.

The apartment itself was amazing! Very clean, comfortable! Great views and location! Close to train station - about ten minute walk. Ten minute walk to Duomo area. Quiet area and a cafe across the street!! There is an information book that has great information from restaurants to sites, and bakeries too! A wow apartment!

A smaller but extremely well arranged apartment with two bedrooms and a beautiful, large terrace with stunning multiple views of the main monuments and the Arno river!
20 minutes to anywhere in the city center. Excellent security in place and the people running the place are real pros. We have been frequent visitors to Florence for the past 15 years. One of the nicest, if not the nicest property we have stayed at!

Thank you Donatella for providing such a beautiful space for your guests. I am a very picky traveler and I was thoroughly impressed. The four of us absolutely loved everything about this penthouse and the location could not have been more centrally located. I miss sitting on the balcony with the incredible view, listening to the bells toll! We will b back 🔔

This is a fantastically appointed top floor apartment with a large terrace overlooking the city of Florence. It is located by the river only 5 minutes walk away from all the great sights. It is remarkably quiet at night given its position. There are several great restaurants within 100 yards (we tried 3 of them and weren’t disappointed).
The owners were very generous, providing us with several bottles of very good wine on arrival. Check in was simple and the private lift to our floor was a real boon.
I wouldn’t hesitate from recommending this property to anyone visiting Florence!

This beautiful apartment was more than I could’ve ever hoped for. It was upscale, extremely clean, in a beautiful, walkable neighborhood. Very well outfitted. Excellent security at the building. Felt completely comfortable for a girls’ getaway stay.
As in other reviews, the view is absolutely spectacular! . Although it was too cold to enjoy the deck area much, we got some beautiful photographs of our stay there.
There were wonderful recommendations for restaurants and gelato from our hosts.
I would highly recommend this apartment and look forward to staying again sometime soon!

The apartment was perfect. It was ideal for my best friend and me. We have traveled together in the past but have always stayed in hotels. The apartment is beautiful and well appointed. The thought that was given to every detail to truly make it your home was amazing. The views from the rooftop terrace are stunning.
The location is great, everything in walking distance to all the museums and incredible shopping. The staff are real pros and highly responsive. Will I come back? The answer is a resounding YES!!!
