"The hotel is well maintained, exceptionally clean, has wonderful linens. We stayed in an upstairs room with very narrow winding staircase with no handrails. Difficult to navigate as we are a senior couple. The room was small, but well appointed. However, the peaked ceiling did not allow for a complete wall between the bedroom and bathroom and afforded little privacy. The breakfast was excellent and the staff were very accommodating. "We had a huge room. It was very unexpected in a fabulous way. The proximity to the square is excellent as you can overlook the square from your room. There is no checkin or out so you just need to go to the restaurant to pick up your key. We didnt ask about dropping off the key as we had to leave by 8am so we gave the key to the cleaning staff as the restaurant wasnt open. The hotel is a bit eclectic but adds to the charm. "This is fantastic hotel and the decor is absolutely superb, the bedroom was luxurious and bed huge and comfy, the shower was absolutely fantastic, the staff can not do enough for you. The grounds are secluded garden that has a bathing pool (not heated ) in the centre but the garden is extremely well maintained and they have several patios with very comfy seating and there is a canal at the end of the garden. They also have a wellness centre and a jacuzzi which we didnt try on our stay"

"When we arrived, the only sign on the door was in Flemish. After using google translate, we tried all 3 bells as instructed but got no answer. We had to look up on Expedia to find the telephone number. The owner answered, and said a neighbour would be along shortly to let us in. He hung up on me whilst i was asking about the promised parking. The neighbour was pleasant but spoke only Flemish- i speak English, French, German, italian and Danish- so communication was hard.
