Bring your creativity to Stonewood on the New, where the artist owner leaves an easel and plenty of space for you to enjoy during your stay in her delightful retreat! Stonewood is just a short walk to the common riverfront area, so bring your inner tubes, kayaks, canoes and fishing gear!

Stonewood sleeps up to eight people. If you are coming with extended family or two couples, consider renting both Stonewood and A-Frame of Mind across the road! Stonewood is classic mountain log cabin. One of our favorite areas of the house is the comfy sunroom/studio, where light and the natural surroundings flood the airy space. You'll feel like you're in a tree house! There's also a cozy daybed with a trundle for naps or overflow sleeping - 2 Twins. It's a great room to visit with those you love and you can turn on the gas logs in the “wood” stove for ambiance and settle in to watch TV.

In the living room, the real stone fireplace conjures thoughts of pioneer days but you get to easily light the gas logs before curling up with your friends or family or a good book and a glass of wine or cocoa. We love the exposed beams and you'll love the many windows making the outdoors a part of your day, no matter what the weather. There's a queen sleeper sofa here, too.

The kitchen is just the right size, with a dishwasher and all the other normal appliances. You'll find all the things you need to cook a meal or reheat leftovers from one of the good restaurants in West Jefferson or nearby Boone.

On the main floor a full bath with a claw foot tub offers modern convenience with an old-timey feel.

Upstairs the main bedroom has a an electric “wood” stove, set against a stone wall. With the flick of a switch you'll add warmth or change the mood. Combined with the comfy full bed and a TV, this room is also a quiet getaway when you've got a crowd. Across the hall is a second bedroom with one full bed and one twin. They share a bath with access from both bedrooms.

Outside the deck offers a grill and al fresco dining and plenty of gently sloping yard to enjoy. A favorite spot will be the fire pit, with Adirondack chairs and a swinging bench.

Location, Location, Location

Located in Southern Ashe County, from this cabin you can access all that our northeast NC mountains (“the Coolest Corner”) has to offer. West Jefferson is only 20 minutes north, where you can enjoy all the shops, restaurants, festivals, galleries and two breweries (or go a bit farther to Lansing if you like hard cider!). Since it's only 30 minutes to Boone, and just a bit more to Blowing Rock, it's the ideal location to take in all the region offers. Mt. Jefferson is only 20 minutes north, and you'll be as thrilled by the view as we are no matter how many times we see it. You can drive almost to the top. There are hiking trails and picnic areas.

Many of our guests love to spend time driving the Blue Ridge Parkway, and your access point from the cabin is about 10 minutes. Drive north to Glendale Springs where you can see the frescoes at the chapel there. Lunch is on offer at the café. Greenhouse Crafts and the Northwest Trading Post (both closed for the winter) have tons of cool stuff on offer. South you can get to Moses Cone Park, with trails and a great crafts shop. Or go North to Doughton Park and the Brinegar cabin (often with an interpretive ranger on duty to tell you about life for the family here at the turn of the century from the 1800s to 1900s).

Dogs Welcome! Must be well behaved, leash/crate trained, 2 years or older and 45lbs or less. $50 / per pet. 2 dog limit.

Nice place. A little too much “cabin decor”. Enjoyed our time there. Would revisit.

The location could not have been more beautiful! The inside was way too cluttered, and the beds were not comfortable. If the owner cleaned out some of the stuff and invested in new mattresses, this rental would be perfect!! The cabin was very roomy inside and outside porches and deck were great!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Our mini vacation was amazing!! Great location for seeing everything we expected to get to. This cabin was clean and was perfect. I have stayed in many cabins across the USA & this was at the top of them. The staff at Stay Blue Ridge were helpful & efficient and friendly. Would definitely stay again if we were going back. So peaceful and quite. Thanks

Loved the location, about 30 min to anything. Tall people beware of low hanging items in the kitchen! Fire pit and porch weregreat and the art room was a big hit. The mattresses and pillows were actually comfortable. The only complaint I have is there is absolutely no room to store non-refrigerated food. There is really no where to put any of your personal belongings save a few dresser drawers up stairs. I We understand things happen, especially out in the middle of nowhere, but the power went off for a second and it tripped the well pump so we had no water. Of course it was a Saturday at 8pm. There were no instructions on how to fix it. The property manager was very nice and prompt but couldn't get someone out till sometime the next morning. Hopefully, they rectify this so in the event this happens to someone else, they will be able to handle it accordingly. Otherwise the cabin was great

We loved everything but the “mattresses” on the trundle bed and pullout couch were very uncomfortable. And there was a smell of cat urine by the laundry room and in the sunroom on the pillows. We will definitely be coming back though!

We enjoyed our stay a great deal. The cabin had lots of space for 3 adults and loved that we could bring our small dog with us. He loved the deck and porch as well as walking to the river each day.

Were loved this cabin in the woods. Just remote enough, but close enough to hiking, skiing and sightseeing.

This is an amazing property. It's Scenic and just secluded enough. There are rivers and hiking trails near by & plenty of beauty to take in whether drive around or hike it. The setting & the cabin, perfect!

Loved the homeyness and room to spread out on back porch, front porch, firepit, etc. I appreciated the quirkiness of all the collectibles. Would stay again!

We really enjoyed the cabin. Love all of the things from the pass. It was like we stepped back in time, with the screen doors. It surprised us that it only has a window unit air conditioning down stairs but that was all we needed. That says alot in the middle of July!! The neighbors r close but we only seen a few cars go by and didn't hear any of them. Had a cute little chipmunk playing in the yard. Love the road driving to the cabin running along with the river. We went tubing in the river. Wasn't that far from Boone, love the sightseeing on the way to town of all the Christmas trees planted on the sides of the mountains. Will definitely come back! Thank you for sharing your cabin with us.

The property was decent. The house was nice, but very cluttered. It would be nice if there was not so much “stuff” everywhere! It should be noted that the property does not have central A/C. There is a portable A/C but the house was still hot. The property manager did bring us a window unit the next day, and that helped some. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of supplies. The river access is not exactly as close as the listing makes it out to be. The only way to access the river without going through high weeds and steep cliffs Is to go 1 mike back to the bridge. Overall the house is ok, but the owners could definitely do some updating to make it a better rental. I myself would not stay here again, but It is a charming place and someone who enjoys collectibles might enjoy it better then us.

It is a very nice cabin. It was a little warm in there when we arrived, turning fans on and called office they were suppose to go and put A/C units in windows since they had not been put in yet since it was just getting warm. Never got A/C units put in so we made it work with opening windows and turning fans on high. Ants are really bad at kitchen sink. Wipe and clean around the sink go back in there and they were back up there again. It is very nice cabin other than that.

So nice. We loved the house. The gas fireplace was a great treat. The sun room was our favorite. Loved the classic cabin feel. Also close by area to fish and blue ridge parkway. Thank you so much to the owner for allowing us to stay.

Cabin to cluttered, pans hanging over kitchen island need to be moved hit head in them way to many times. Stink bugs, and mice feces in the frying pan we were going to cook in, nasty! The mice had eaten on the toilet paper, I have pictures.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was more than happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house location is great, easy to find and access. It is very charming with alot of character. We found everything we needed to cook and entertain ourselves. The 2 large porches are wonderful for enjoying the outdoors. There is many options for sittings, different table set ups and sofas and rocking chairs and that makes it easy for a larger family to gather. The sunroom brought alot of light in and was a great place to hang out. We enjoyed the gas stove in the sunroom as well! Its really homey and relaxing. The hardwood flooring through the house is perfect for keeping my allergies at bay. We ventured on the Parkway and all the country roads and had a lovely time at the Elk Shoals New River State Park / beach. We would love to come back!

but was very hot due to the window unit (no Central AC) pictures on website are misleading as to location of river access and how it looked when we were there... no steps down to water and access not across from property

We loved the house and the location. The only downside to this property is the lack of air conditioning. There was no air conditioning at all downstairs, and the upstairs had only a small portable unit. We were out and about during the day, so we were able to deal with it, but it got very hot in the back living area. There was no mention of this in the house description. Also, it would be very helpful if we had been told where the common area for putting in kayaks or tubes was, as it was not made very clear. However, the property manager was very nice and helpful with this, and once we found it we were very happy! All in all, this was a great house and we had a great vacation!
