There are wineries within walking distance and Pinhao is a short drive away. We highly recommend staying at Casa do Santo because it provides an authentic Douro experience that can't be matched."

"We truly appreciated the magic of the amazing restoration job of this historic hotel! Such friendly and welcoming staff and quiet location but walkable to everywhere. If you are celiac, give them notice and they will prepare a GF breakfast option. We absolutely LOVED our stay! *Only thing to note about the hotel that could be an issue for some is the train the runs late into the night and early in the morning right out the back - but the soundproofing is so well done / the old walls so thick we only heard a deep vibration/rumbling in our room that we generally slept through (though I wear earplugs) - may be a different story if your room faces the train tracks so be sure to request a street facing room if you are an light sleeper. We found all the staff to be so friendly, polite and helpful always going over and above. The reception staff were particularly exceptional as they helped me with winery reservations and transport to wineries and restaurants. They were also very helpful to my husband in storing his bike and helping him to plan safe cycle routes Thank you so much for our wonderful stay."
