"A really peaceful stay in a very well equipped resort. We stayed in a superior suite which was absolutely excellent and the food on offer was always to a high standard. We had a car so it was easy to visit the neighbouring towns and villages but without a car it would have been impossible. Therefore, if you want to see more than just the hotel you do need a rental. Overall very pleased."

"The Grand Hotel des Estrangers is a beautiful hotel perfectly located in the Ortigia section of Syracuse. The building is beautiful and the renovations are very stylish. The breakfast was excellent and the rooftop bar and restaurant are quite nice. The staff is high professional and friendly. We had massages at their Spa which were top notch. The gym is adequate. Good luck if you need to change large euro bills for smaller denominations, we asked once or twice every day and were often unable to get it from the front desk. I know it’s not a bank but it’s a reasonable request. "

"Host, Salvos, was a real asset. We had a dreadful start to our holiday with a five hour flight delay and as a result our car hire vehicles were rented out to others. Salvos helped us - a party of eight - get to the villa. Nothing was too much trouble. He loaned us his car so we could do a supermarket shop. He was the perfect host. The swimming pool area was a lovely spot to enjoy the sunshine. Villa a great base from which to explore, but use of a car essential as location is at a distance from the nearest town.."

"The property is a little out of town but, there are buses you can catch and its only a 20min walk in. The pool was lovely and the bar staff were excellent! Great cocktails! Beds very comfortable. "
