"We greatly enjoyed our three day stay. We chose Point Arena for peace and quiet, and we got lots of it. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Our Keurig machine was a dud, and they went out directly to purchase and install a new one. They also prepare a dinner and breakfast (limited menu) on request and there is an excellent continental breakfast always available. The view of the harbor from our room was spectacular and we spent a lot of our time just watching the waves roll in and the pelicans diving. I was startled to find Point Arena's main street disappointingly run down. Forty years ago it was a vibrant little place and people driving PCH would stop on their way for a meal and to shop, now they seem to drive straight through. Even the turn off to the harbor and hotel is a challenge to find. Do stop out of town at the lighthouse. It's a gem."

"This is one of my favorite places to stay. Lovely, charming, unhurried with beautiful architecture and grounds. The staff was helpful and friendly. The room was exactly as I recall it being roughly 12 years ago - spacious, lovingly decorated, attentive details everywhere with luxurious, high quality furnishings. The Madrones is a welcome respite in Anderson Valley and great home base for local wine tasting. The restaurant was still as cozy and intimate as I remembered, with simple but carefully crafted dishes. The dining courtyard could not be more charming. The ambiance is unbeatable at The Madrones and our experience was overwhelmingly positive. (There were a couple of minor areas of improvement: the tv wasn't properly working - but staff provided a half bottle of wine to make up for this - and the large blinds and bathroom ceiling could use dusting/cobweb removal.) All else was spotless and well maintained. I would return again and again and highly recommend The Madrones."

"We had an amazing stay! Home had everything we needed and the views cannot be beat! We spent a majority of our time in the sunroom just watching the ocean. The kitchen is well stocked and we made most of our meals at the house. The bed was comfortable and the electric blanket made it cozy on the cool nights. There were deer that wondered through the property daily. We are already thinking of when we can return. Close enough to Mendocino and Fort Bragg but away from the hustle and bustle. Howard is an exceptional host and was very kind and communicative."
