Great Views-Walk To Town: Family Gatherings, Reunions. Retreats

Wonderful mountain home with fantastic views of Longs Peak and the Rocky Mountains (City license # 3284). Situated on Davis Hill, a quiet residential neighborhood just two blocks from downtown main street. Perfect choice for vacations, family reunions, business retreats, wildlife watching, leaf peeping, etc. Whether it is a family reunion and vacation needing lots of sleeping space (number limited by city code) or a smaller get together with six sleeping areas our property is a great place. The Davis Hill Historic House, with its breathtaking view of the Continental Divide and particularly Longs Peak, began as an inn around the turn of the last century in a smaller structure. The present stone and stucco structure was built in 1923. We operated the house as a B&B for five years and after numerous requests from guests to rent the entire place to include kitchen facilities for their summer vacations, family reunions, quilting groups and off site events, we no longer operate as a B&B. We accept seven day or more rentals in the main summer season and five day or more rentals at other times. Although seldom needed, we have air conditioners in the main house great room and upstairs loft. During the prime season check in and check out are on Saturdays.
This comfortable home is in a fabulous location. On a hill in a quiet, secluded residential neighborhood, you can leave your cars parked in the reserved on site spaces and walk to downtown in five minutes. There is a stop for the town's free shuttle service (operates during the tourist season) a block and a half away. This shuttle connects to the free shuttle from town to Rocky Mountain National Park. There are numerous shops, restaurants, wine tasting rooms, distilleries, breweries and other attractions just two blocks away to include Fun City-a kids' favorite. Enjoy the fabulous mountain views, wildlife and birds from the large front porch.
The house has six bedrooms, two full baths and one half bath. The full kitchen is equipped with everything you need to whip up great meals. There is also a dishwasher and microwave. (See list of amenities below.) There is a large living room with a smart TV for streaming and comfortable furniture, including couches and a recliner, surrounding an incredible moss stone fireplace.
You can dine inside at the large dining table (original hickory style) or al fresco on the wonderful large front porch overlooking the Continental Divide.

The back wing of the main house has three bedrooms and one hall entry full bathroom. one of the bedrooms has a king bed, one has a full and single and the other has two twins. The back wing bedrooms include one with a
king bed, one with two twins and one with a double and a twin. The bathroom has a claw foot tub and separate modern shower. The other main floor wing has a bedroom with a king bed and a bedroom with a full bed (''the nook''). These two bedrooms are separated by a full bathroom with a claw foot tub (tub has shower attachment). The nook also has a private exit out to the front porch. The comfortable main floor period bedrooms all have antique furniture and comfortable beds.

Upstairs is a large dormitory style bedroom that is very popular with kids and teens. There is one queen, one double, one single bed and a half bath. There is also a futon and couch for lounging.

Guests often have a hard time pulling themselves away from the view from the large porch to go explore Rocky Mountain National Park, the Stanley Hotel, the YMCA of the Rockies and beautiful downtown Estes Park with the wonderful river walk. There is a propane fire pit available out back for roasting hot dogs and making s'mores as well as a large gas grill. Skewers provided. (City ordinance prohibits wood fires for short term rentals, but even If there is a city or county fire ban in effect due to weather the code approved propane fire pit and gas grill can still be used.) There is a complementary on site laundry facility. (Laundry is shared with occasional use by owners, usually just to facilitate turnover). Detergent, spray and wash, etc. provided. We have a fenced area on the side of the house and on site reserved parking for up to four vehicles with complimentary space for a few more right across the street. A city ordinance prohibits on street parking, RVs, trailers or large campers, but guests may use the parking area across the street for those at no charge. The Estes Park Shuttle to and from the Denver Airport provides pick up and delivery right to our house for approximately $60 one way.
Maximum occupancy of 14 guests is dictated by city ordinance. Beginning in the 2026 season guests need to bring their own sheets, pillow cases, bath and kitchen towels, etc. Consequently, we will eliminate the cleaning fee beginning in 2026. We respond to all inquiries and calls promptly. Our calendar is always fully updated. We know you will enjoy your stay.

(We no longer rent the attached cottage one bedroom apartment. )

Our house is smoke free, to include the porches and decks. Smoking is permitted at the fire pit. We love pets, but do not allow them due to some guests having pet allergies.

Amenities: We provide the following: Blender, crock pot, toaster oven, toaster, four drip style coffee makers, one very large percolator type coffee maker, coffee grinder, pots and pans, dishes, food processor, mini chopper, waffle iron, electric knife, regular knives, utensils, teapot, rice cooker, microwave, iron, ironing board, extension cords, hair dryer, pack and play, feeding tray/chair, futon, ceiling fans, table fan, room fan, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and some basics like olive oil, salt, pepper, sugar and other assorted spices. It’s a historic property. We enjoyed the gas fire pit. It’s a short walk to town. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking. We spent most of our time out on the porch talking if we weren’t hiking in RMNP, which we did every day. The view of with the sunrise is gorgeous in the morning. No complaints,

The House was great for my family of 6 adults and 7 kids. My parents were able to stay in the adjacent apartment over the garage and get some privacy. Wildlife was abundant and would walk through the yard daily. Overall a great experience.

The property matched the online description perfectly. The highlights were as follows: 1) The location was perfect—within walking distance of downtown and just a few minutes' drive from the national park. It was in a quiet neighborhood with large lots, and we saw elk several times. 2) The property manager was highly responsive (he lives close) and responded to my questions within minutes. 3) The size was great for our large family. We had four families—three stayed in the large home with our grandkids, and my wife and I (the grandparents) stayed in the separate unit above the garage. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals. We also enjoyed the fire pit and made s'mores one night. Highly recommended.

We had 13 of us stay at this wonderful house for a family reunion and trip to the Rocky Mountain National Park. The house was so spacious and well equipped with plenty of beds for us, bedding and towels. We did laundry a couple of times to keep them from piling up. The owners are friendly and helpful! The kitchen is so well equipped. I don't think there was anything we did not have that we wanted to use. The table dishes and glasses are plentiful. Lots of appliances and cookware. The attached apartment didn't have as much, but since we rented both we shared between and did fine. Maybe the only thing I thought may be missing and it's really no big deal because we had paper products, but maybe some plastic plates and cups for when some people take them outside. I would not want little kids taking glasses outside. The front porch is amazing - plenty of seating to sit and catch the mountain view. We enjoyed breakfast and coffee out there each morning. the location is excellent - 10 minutes from the entrance to RMNP and a two block walk from the tourist/shopping area of Lake Estes. The town has a Safeway grocery store, a Dollar Tree and Dollar General where we were able to get anything we looked for. Our family took plenty of food with us since some drove, but the store was a full size grocery when needed anything. there is so much to do within walking distance in town. Enough for everyone of any age. We enjoyed sitting around the large dining room table.

The location of this property is perfect. Close enough to walk pretty much anywhere in town, and just a short drive to RMNP. Lots of space for everyone - we had 10 in our group. At the end of a day with some pretty long hikes, having AC was VERY appreciated.

We loved our stay! From the spacious shaded front porch with mountain views to the large great room with space for meals, lounging and games, we had plenty of room to spread out. The attached cottage provided a private, quiet space for those working during our stay. We enjoyed cookouts at the fire pit and the kids loved exploring the rock outcroppings. The main street of Estes Park is a 5 minute walk down the hill so we didn’t have to worry about parking downtown. Plenty of yard games and a hammock in the shade made for perfect evenings outside. We can’t wait to come back.

Great location and view of the mountains, especially from the roomy front porch. Served our family gathering of 14 people well. From the ages of 1,year old to a 90 year old. The fire pit was popular with everyone. Jim and Lois were extremely helpful with recommendations and very responsive if we needed anything. We definitely give this host and property a five star rating

Our family felt immediately at home in the inn, with its turn-of-the-twentieth-century furnishings, comfortable bedrooms, and spacious great room. The kitchen was well-equipped for preparation of meals for the 11 of us. Because we had gathered from four states and were aware of covid danger, we ate on the porch, in the neighborhood of rabbits, deer, elk, many swallows, and the mountains. The hosts welcomed us warmly and were very helpful. When one of our two cars was disabled, they told us of a scenic hike from a nearby trailhead to which our single vehicle could shuttle us. We recommend that visitors read all the information on the website about layout of the house and cottage and about Estes Park.

This is a perfect place for a family gathering. We love the fact that you can walk to town and don't have to worry about downtown parking. We've been here before and it was even better this year with the addition of air conditioners upstairs and in the main room. Jim and Lois are always so helpful!! We've already booked in for next year!!!

The location of this house is perfect- minutes from RMNP and a short walk to downtown Estes Park. It was perfect for our group of 14- plenty of space for everyone. We really enjoyed the porch. Lois and Jim went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable- helping with a damaged stroller, collecting trash often for our big group, and giving recommendations. Would definitely recommend this house to anyone and hope we can return one day!

This property was absolutely perfect for our family retreat to the Rockies. We had a total of 4 families with kids of all ages and there was plenty of room for all, both inside and out. The property was exactly as described, with plenty of bedrooms, common areas, amazing views of the mountains, and we even had mule deer walk through the yard on 2 different occasions. Wonderful location that I would highly recommend. Can't wait to come back!

The house is large enough with multiple rooms and beds. The loft upstairs was great for the younger crowd to gather while the older crowd was downstairs on the main floor. We had extended family from overseas come and it housed 11-13 people well. Jim was welcoming, accommodating, and easy to contact. Would highly recommend this place for family gatherings, smaller (up to 30 people) events, or just having a good group of people to stay in the same house!!

During our delightful 7 days at Davis House, everyone in our group (16 people) enjoyed the calm, well decorated and comfortable historic house, as well as the bonfire area... and the gas fireplace! Coming from out of the country, we found everything we needed, from an air dryer to a variety of spices (we just had to get our food)! All appliances were functional. And what to say about Jim's air compressor he used to help one of our guests' car... we are very grateful for such a kind host. Jim & Lois make this place a home, not just a house. Should we return to Estes, this is where we want to stay. We highly recommend it! Many many thanks, Lois & Jim! Hope to return soon! Mario & Sylvie
