"Outstanding hotel, lovely for a small relaxing by the Douro river. Breathtaking views, amazing food and very nice interior decor. Staff are great (reception is exemplary!), however I would say that restaurant staff need to improve on their English as I felt service is much better in Portuguese than English (I’m Portuguese and my partner’s English which is how we noticed this difference). Otherwise, this has inspired us to think about going to yet another Octant hotel in future (we’ve been to the one in Évora before which is also great!)"

"The room was very clean and smell really nice. It was the best smelling room in all the places that I stayed so far in Portugal under usd 100.00. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is fresh but a little less options than expected. However, it is what most other hotels prepare unless high end. I wouldn't penalize them for that. It is adequate for most people to start the day. They are very close to all the spots of attraction. I really liked that. I slept, I ate and I left. They can get a 5 star for the price. I wish other hotels were as similar overall. "

"Location is fantastic. Ocean view from the hotel room is fantastic. This is not 4-star. Rooms aren't clean. Toilet was leaking. Utensils in the kitchen still had food on them from prior guests. Silverfish in kitchen cabinets."
