Good night sleep

Very well located and handy to town and railway. The hotel is good, newish with airy rooms, comfortable beds, and average breakfast. Cleanliness can be better- I found fake lashes in my shower that scared the hell out of me as I thought it was a spider.

Very much a ‘business’ hotel. Staff very friendly and efficient but bar area lacked atmosphere and had to wait for a receptionist to serve drinks. Room was clean and comfortable.

The property location is great. The room and view were great. However, it is very hard to find the entrance. I searched for a bit lugging my suitcase and bags. Finally I got close to an area where I saw a sign that was facing the opposite direction and that is where the elevator was.

Very convenient to get to the train and bus stations. Close to a variety of stores and dining options. Got a room with a great view of the town. Kettle to boil water in the room. - No iron in the room; iron in the room is standard in every other hotel where I have stayed. - Mattress was somewhat uncomfortable. - Not enough pillows.

Service was great, cleanliness not so much

I felt like my room wasn’t really cleaned thoroughly. There was a long hair in the clean towel they provided and hairs in the shower. Gum sticking on the side of the bed. The staff was super friendly and helpful and the location is perfect.

Substandard property

It’s a basic hotel in a small town in NL. I was bitten by an insect during the night. Next day hand got swollen and took several days of antibiotics and allergy medications to get it under control. Rather expensive and unpleasant experience.

Beware in winter months - no heat thermostat in the room. When we complained of being cold, we were only offered an extra blanket. It took a second complaint for them to offer a stand-alone heater. Also, the bed cover/duvet is tiny - it does not cover the full size of the bed… very strange..

I had booked a double room and provided with a twin, not ideal for romantic weekend away. I enguired about getting the room i booked but was told that although they try match customer reguest this is what they had avalible. This was confusing as i had booked many week in advance. There was a hazelnut on the floor and some long hairs on the bed. The bathroom was spotless, the staff were very polite and the location was absolutly ideal

I was baffled by this hotel: it seems that a competition was written for architectural students to design a (spacious) room that has all the basics...AND WHOEVER CAN DO IT AT THE LOWEST COST WILL WIN!.(NO ADULT or FREQUENT TRAVELER would ever design a room to be THIS UNCOMFORTABLE). It had everything: a (terrible) bed, two (very small, very poor) pillows, a duvet (too thin and small for the bed), a (half) desk, two (very poor) chairs, a (small) bathroom with a sink, a (small) shower (with low water pressure), (very thin) towels and a toilet. In my 40 years of travel around the world, staying in hotels 200 nights per year minimum, this must have been the most "bare bone" comfort I have ever experienced (AT A HIGH PRICE!) Check in is SELF SERVICE, they have closed the restaurant for lunch and dinner (So it should be renamed HOTEL-GARNI or B&B) and the very hard to find staff members seemed to have NO training in the hospitality industry. Breakfast was all self service and unappetizing. The reason I chose the hotel was its location and the STEIGENBERGER affiliation ~ but NEVER AGAIN!
