"I quite liked this place for the price. Location could NOT have been better!!! It was such a perfect location! Staff was amazing and so helpful!! There was a tinnny elevator which was so helpful to get the luggage to the room. It was clean, and beds pretty comfortable. My sons bed was more comfortable then mine, mine had a weird lump/roll in the middle. It was verrrrry hot to sleep here. No ac as most places in Germany. "This place is a private house converted into guest rooms, including the cellar. My room was in the cellar. It didn't have a window, only a skylight with a grate across. It was dark and one morning there was a slug crawling on the floor. The bed didn't have a proper mattress or bedding. On top of the bed was a foam topper, on top of that a day blanket and a cover blanket that I don't think were clean. "This is a gem of a hostel, you can't go wrong. We had a 6 bed room to ourselves and, while initially looking a little on the cramped side, it was no bother at all as we mainly spent our time out and about. Spotlessly clean, great en suite shower, firm mattresses (which I thought were great, but guess that's down to personal preference!) The hostel is a 25 min walk from the centre of Cologne (Dom & railway station etc) and located a few mins walk from the buzzing Belgian Quarter, but still...

"TERRIBLE ATTENTION! NO RESPECT! The place was ok. The bathroom is shared with the other room on the floor and is outside the room. I never received the e-mail with the instructions about the keys and how to get inside the building. I waited outside in the cold and the man who answered the call (He never showed. There's no reception) repeated over and over that I should read that e-mail with the instructions. First he told me he didn't speak English, so he only spoke German. I called him again...

"Wir hatten ein schönes Familientreffen dort. Das Wetter war super und wir konnten den riesigen Garten nutzen. Etwas mehr Schatten zum draußen sitzen wäre gut gewesen - bei schlechtem Wetter wäre da Wohn-/Esszimmer für unsere große Gruppe wohl etwas eng geworden um entspannt zusammen zu sitzen. Das Haus ist sonst gut in Schuss."
