"This place is a dream. The small town of Oundle is just lovely. Taken back to 400 years ago and the Talbot inn is extraordinary. From the rooms to the food, to the amazing staff and welcome, we fell in love with it from the first second. Our fave was Alisha our waitress. She was also delightful. "

"We only stayed for a couple of nights, but we found the bed was clean and the breakfast was plentiful and delicious. It’s much more than a continental breakfast, and has enormous variety of foods to choose from."

"The property might be rated three star but the staff are rated five star in our mind. They were polite, attentive, efficient and engaging when spoken to. The hotel and the whole of Rutland we found to be really helpful and polite. It`s the way Norfolk used to be but is sadly lacking in a lot of establishments these days. Nice to see that hospitality is still alive and well in Rutland and surrounding areas, The hotel is looking a little tired but didn`t spoil our stay any way, shape or form. Lot`s of rabbit holes around the garden area so be careful if walking off of the paths. We took our dog Oakley with us but unfortunately he had to stay on the lead around Rutland water as it is all about wildlife and the area being eco-friendly. There is an area of about an acre over at Sykes Lane where they can be let off the lead. Oakley, only eight months old was fascinated by the rabbits, birds, sheep and various other animals roaming outside the back of the hotel. He also had a fantastic holiday and was allowed inside parts of the hotel. Thanks to all the staff for a very relaxed visit. "
