"What a beautiful hotel in a picturesque beach town! Splurge to get a room with a view! Staff was amazing and friendly! Breakfast was delicious-coffee, breads, cheese, sausage, fruit, and tortilla. "I have no idea why this place has mixed reviews - I thought it was excellent. Location was amazing - right in the town centre - the room was bright and clean and actually really nice- of course there was a buzz and hubbub from the street below but it didn't go in ridiculously late or detract from a good night's sleep, the beds and pillow were comfy, everything was fine. In addition, the hostel has a fast lift, the auto check-in works like a dream; the price was good (around 60€ for 2 pax) and messages were generally answered quickly via the Hotels app. It would perhaps be useful to be told that luggage sent ahead will be left on the 2nd floor terrace near the reception desk - we had a brief panic on arrival, not having had that info, but a WhatsApp message sorted things out within a few minutes. There is a launderette directly opposite the hostel (think it said it closes at 8.30pm). "

Every room is designed so it is completely private, so you can have the curtains open on the entire glass wall in the bedroom and look out over the Bay of Biscay, and soak in the tub while inhaling the ocean air. You are practically outside. They really take care of you, here. They have a spa, and they are attached to the Akelarre Restaurant (3 Michelin stars) that started it all. "
