Ticked all the boxes for my 1 night stay - functional, clean and comfortable with a nice powerful rain shower! Easy transport links to Edinburgh Waverley and Old Town and Leith Harbour. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Bag storage available for short periods. Good local bars and restaurants within a short walk.

There was a very nice coffee shop right outside the door. My main complaint was the mattress which was uncomfortable. I had trouble getting clean towels when needed. Location was good for us. We did not want to be on the “strip”. Also confirm your entry code as we did not receive adequate info to get in.

Smith Place Hotel is located in a central location on Leith Walk about 15 minutes to either Leith or the city centre. When the tram is running, the stop is only about 3 minutes walk away, same with the bus stop which makes it easy to travel around across Edinburgh. The staff were friendly and helpful, and a pleasure to talk to. The hotel itself provides free water, tables and chairs in a central common area that can be accessed by anyone and is quite comfortable if you just want to sit and eat. The room itself doesn't have windows at all, but there is a skylight covered with a blind to provide some light which can feel a bit weird at first. It was quiet, clean and comfortable to sleep for a few nights but can feel a bit cramped if you have a lot of luggage.

Great location, the staff were very helpful and friendly. Comfort was low because the room had a plastic smell, the shower was built for handicap accessibility so it wasn’t as comfortable, and the bed springs kept jabbing my ribs. Very nice place overall : )

Ideally placed on the tram link from.airport but still walkable up to the port and into the city. Lots of dining options on Leith road. Room was just as needed for a 2 night stop over to explore the area.

We loved this hotel! Perfect place to stay for couple of days. Was very clean and very easy to find. Couple min walk from any kind of transport. So many cafes and nice local pubs and restaurants around. Would definitely recommend.

Excellent property for the value and location (next to major route for trams and buses to the center, restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, and grocery store all nearby). Room was clean and even though we were on the first floor, very quiet. Electric tea pot with tea, coffee and biscuits were a nice touch. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. 30 minutes walk to the center and safe at night to do so. The location itself was very nice and quiet from the bustling center, really appreciated all the locally owned shops nearby.

Great Cost X Benefit

Near the Tram and Buses Stop. Restaurants, Shops and Supermarkets around the block. Nice bathroom and new shower. Coffee and Tea available at the room. I do recommend for a short stay.
