"The hotel is okay, but the stairs are very steep and the room we were allocated, was on the top floor, so two flights of steep stairs. By the time we go to the top, we were both struggling. The site advertises (and I just checked again) that it has a bar, lounge and restaurant. In fact they do not have a licence, but do not charge, if you want to bring in your own drink and they do supply glasses and ice buckets. The restaurant has been redone as an Indian restaurant. It is totally Indian cuisine, unlike most Indian restaurants, in the UK, it does not offer an European alternative, for those who are not keen on India. The bathroom door did not fit well and needed a bolt lock to close it. It did not look good. The radiator was turned down, when we arrived and the room was very cold. We turned it up and eventually, it did warm the room. However the next morning, the heating did not come on at all, which made getting washed and dressing, quite stressful. The room could have been organised better, so that the tea tray, was not right beside the bed. It meant there was not a bedside table or lamp, on that side. So getting up through the night, was quite tricky. Whenever a heavy vehicle, went past on the road, the bedroom floor and the bed vibrated. In the early hours of the morning (after 3 a.m.) the bed would vibrate, making it harder to get bac to sleep."

"Unfortunately my experience in room 414 last night was not good, there was an annoing continuous sound all night up above the room( not the air conditioning unit ss this was off) also the bed was unsteady. Each time my husband or i moved it disturbed the other person. This resulted in myself not having a good nights rest . Shame as all previous visits to the Grosvenor have been amazing ."

"Having read the previous reviews we opted to book this cottage at short notice Unfortunately we had several issues on arrival, the property appeared to have not been vacuumed as carpets are floors were dirty. Both beds were missing the mattress protectors, and the double bed was extremely uncomfortable due to a very soft mattress. Chipped plates in the cupboard and greasy baking trays. The bathroom extractor fan wasn't working and there was an unpleasant smell either from the drains or the soiled toilet brush that urgently needs replacing. I had reached out to the host as soon as possible in the hope things would be rectified but it never happened although they replied to our messages. They had asked if we had taken photos of the floors but unfortunately the ones my daughter had taken were not clear enough so when I retook them the following day the host made excuses because they were not the originals from our first day. I suspect they thought we brought in the dirt ourselves when clearly we don't wear shoes indoors and we had informed the host of this. This is our worst experience of staying in a cottage stay, normally our hosts are so impressed with how we look after their properties and the cleaning team comment how well we leave properties they give us free nights returning stays. It's such a shame as this property would be a delight to stay in if only the host acknowledge our concerns rather than brush them off. Vrba credited our account since the host refused..."

"Positives:- Alpacas, sheep, and chickens are great to watch and is one of the highlights of the property- Location was great for us as we were attending Peckforton castle for a wedding. Great views as well.- Main living area was spacious with ample room and seating for all of us- Property host was not present during our stay so it felt very private- Communications with property host were fine.- Property is gated so feels secure- Can’t really comment on hot tub as wasn’t used, but it looked fineNegatives:- The en-suite shower fluctuates in temperature and I was almost scalded by it even though the temperature gauge was set in the middle. This is a serious and dangerous concern and I would highly recommend looking into it. I wouldn’t want anyone to get hurt.- Some of the furniture is a little tired and dated such as the beds. I expected something a little more premium for the price paid.- Same can be said for the bed linen and towels provided.- Cleanliness in some areas did not live up to expectations, such as the en-suite wet room. In particular, the tiles and grouting looked a bit neglected.- Pool table needs re-felting as there were holes in the felt.- Kitchen lacks suitable cookware when cooking for more than 2-3 guests.- Overall I found the value to be on the lower side compared with similar places that I have stayed at."
