"Excellent setting. Impressive decor throughout. Breakfast and dinner as good as any hotel I've been to. Only downsides, it seems to be lift out of order on occasion, and I had booked a Superior Room and question that rating, wondering what a Standard Room provides."

"Good clean room with plenty of storage space and usual facilities ( tea making/ iron/ hair dryer); nice roomy en-suite and plentiful hot water. Maybe I’m a fussy health freak, but I didn’t enjoy the breakfasts—no fresh fruit, quality juice, or muesli ; the cooked options were unappealing and the bread poor. Pleased to say the spa treatments were excellent with good choices and facilities. The therapists were quietly pleasant and efficient. The staff generally were welcoming and helpful"

"A really impressive building - we’ve passed by before and always hoped to stay here. The building is quirky and has so much going for it… probably several £££ million to bring it up to 4* standards, but the staff were super friendly and the room we were assigned was brilliant and had lovely views over the port. Also accommodated for our dog which was really appreciated. The restaurant served a great dinner too and the Scottish breakfast gave us a cracking start on our onward journey. Thank you !"
