We stayed one night in Dholpur--a quiet outpost on the road to Agra--at the Raj Niwas, a 19th-century palace hedged by private gardens. We arrived late and were met by the proprietress, an animated woman appropriately named ‘Bubbles’, who settled us into a cavernous suite at the top of an elegant staircase. With weary glee we examined our room's elaborate bath with eight shower heads, ornately furnished dressing chamber, and 40-foot ceiling decorated with intricate, glittering tile. "Chambre salle, draps sales, salle de bain salle avec un lézard mort, wc sale. Pas un seul endroit n’était propre. La chambre sentait la moisissure. Les ventilateurs de plafond faisait même tomber le crépis moisis des murs. Une horreur. Nous avons dormir sur le lit dans nos draps de bains et non ceux fournis pas l’hôtel car même ça ne n’était même pas propre et sentait beaucoup trop mauvais. Une arnaque pour les voyageurs. "

"The Taj View very quickly became the most incredible hotel I have ever stayed at in my entire life. Quite simply they are a luxury hotel that doesn’t treat you like VIP, they treat you like FAMILY! By the end of our first day every single service member knew who we were BY NAME, which room we were staying in, why we were visiting Agra, and even took time to remember small little facts about us. For example, they noticed after I handed them my passport that it was my birthday a day prior, by the time we got to the room it was decorated, sweet treats were brought up, a reservation was made for us at the Sky Deck, and a birthday cake was brought out to celebrate at the end of our dinner. Every service member stopped what they were doing throughout the day to wish me a happy birthday! The best part of the stay though was easily Max and Maya, the hotel dogs! They were so friendly and sweet. As someone who has a major soft spot for animals, being in India was difficult with seeing all the street dogs. We were greeted at the door of the Taj View by sweet Maya and the moment I was told I could pet her my heart melted like ice in Delhi heat! The staff noticed my love for the dogs and made sure anytime we made our way into the lobby that they were both released so I could pet them. They followed us around and we enjoyed their company immensely. We booked our Taj Mahal experience through the Taj View as well. I am EXTREMELY satisfied with this experience. It’s worth booking! "
