"Gilleleje Badehotel is one of the classic Danish seaside hotels dating from the end of the 19th Century, when the well situated started to spend their holidays away from the capital city. Gilleleje has an active port with both fishing vessels and leisure boats, and nice restaurants. There is a beautiful 1,5 km seaside walking path from the hotel to the port. We visited during winter and really appreciated our windy walks in the area. "

Some things were surprising though in a hotel of this quality - the curtains not being of sufficient quality to keep out any of the bright sunlight, the only way to turn on the fan was by climbing up on the bed, the tv remote not working. "Would return here, great little hotel really central and right next to the metro and 2mins walk to central station (but never heard any trains). The reception team were welcoming, always had a smile, and spoke excellent English (as did everyone in Copenhagen). The breakfast was great, warm rolls and a pastry for each of us, delivered about 8am, which feels late but most touristy stuff didn't open till 10 or 11 so was perfect.
