We were floored when we first saw the view and the room! It is so special and our first night was quiet and romantic. The grounds are gorgeous. The staff was exceptional! We only had a couple of complaints and when we had the complaints, the staff was eager to help in any way possible. We had an issue with our DVD player-which in our mind wasn't a huge deal because it's so fantastic there you don't really need movies, but we wanted to relax our last night and we couldn't get the DVD player to...

The room, the bed, the shower, and the breakfast—no complaints at all; on the contrary, it was all great. We'll definitely come back the next time we need to stay near the airport. The only thing we didn't like is that, although it's great that they are pet-friendly, the pet fee for a one-night stay was a bit high ($75 USD + tax).

Wonderful property at the botanical gardens overlooking the San Jose city with nice walking trails. Tons of birds and butterflies. The on-site restaurant is top notch. I don’t need one, but rooms do not have televisions. Use caution if driving as the roads are steep and narrow. Cars and trucks often park in the road creating one lane there aren’t any sidewalks so people and dogs also share the roads so be mindful if driving.

Very special hotel in the middle of the jungle. Clean, beautiful and amazing staff working there. We had the best time ever

Beautiful room, beautiful grounds, fun trails to navigate on the property, delicious food, fun pool, good drinks. Altogether, an almost perfect trip! Note: the only way to access tortuguero town is via another boat. It looks like they can pick you up at La Pavona so you can go straight there and avoid the public boat everyone else uses. Just email them and find out - something we were unaware of. Also, the wins at the front desk attempted to charge us twice for the room. I had already paid...

Loved the attention we received from it’s staff Sofie, Chef Nayomi, Ivana and Cooper. The room was lovely and very comfortable bed. Cooper was very helpful with the transportation. Not happy about not knowing the travel time was not included in the description. It takes 3-4 hrs from airport then 1 hour boat ride to get to the hotel. Even though it’s all inclusive they didn’t serve alcoholic beverages only wine. Would have loved some mojitos, piba colado or margaritas. Also no tv in the room.

Very great food and kind staff. Hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the town which is very nice. Being at this hotel makes you feel like like you’re in a little resort.

Great breakfast in the morning, clean rooms, hotel grounds were beautiful. I would stay there again!

9/10!! Great staff. Good breakfast. Amazing views from the deck. Conveniently located downtown Tortuguero. The tour guide, Luis, we had was great. I highly recommend Casa Marbella, and their tours!

Great place to stay right on the water!

Great room for the price. Friendly staff.

We loved the friendly staff that encouraged us to try our Spanish. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty. Wifi was good. Showers were lukewarm. Tortuguero is a small village with 1500 people some dogs and no cars. Lots of small restaurants and hotels. The beds had dips on one side, but we slept on the other side and they were great. We used Exploradores for our transfer from San Jose. It included breakfast. A guide and the 90 minute boat ride to the village. Great service. We didn't realize that...

Our guide Jaime was fantastic he is the most knowledgeable guide there. He has a great sense of humor. This property is great

Excellent value for the price. Family-owned. Nice spot at the end of the (only) road in town, facing onto the canal in front and the ocean in back. More homey than high-end. No a/c but with the fan on and the screened window our ocean-facing room stayed cool enough. Breakfast was good. Staff was friendly and we were able to coordinate both canoe trip and turtle watch right from there.

Great host in Costa Rica!!

Rana Roja is deep in the jungle of Tortuguero where you live simply. While the lodging and amenities are simple and not your typical, the lodge owner and staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. They provided a lovely breakfast, and dinner there was well thought out and very affordable. If we travel back to Tortuguero, we will stay here again. Watch out for the monkeys, they will break in and steal your snacks. Pura Vida!
