When we arrived they did not want to give us our room keys because they said they did not receive payment. " The room was clean however the safe did not work. I did not feel as there was no visible security on site on the night that I stayed there. The rooms are not sound proof. If you like the sound of passing traffic and the sounds of people fornicatting. I would suggest you pass then. There was no back up electricity as there was load shedding (no electricity) at the time. The breakfast selection was bland and the selection was minimal. "

"I think it's important to know this is someone's house with a few hotel rooms upstairs. There are some less-than-ideal aspects. The place is very echoey, so if the owners are entertaining downstairs you will hear it in your room. The lighting is very harsh, bright white, which is a big no for me personally. And the bathroom/shower has frosted glass walls that lead on to the hallway. No one can really see you but it doesn't feel that comfortable. Just some strange design choices. The owner couple...

"This is definitely not a 4 stars hotel. It must be a 2 stars boutique homestay instead. Room is too small for 2 king bed. Bathroom is too small with old shower stall. Old furniture and squeaking wood floor. Felt unwelcome by the management. Definitely not happy stay and not recommend to others. "

"The staff are warm, friendly and helpful. Lovely breakfast in the morning. Comfortable Room. Melville shopping centre nearby about a 15 minute walk and area felt safe to me. Using uber is a good way to go to areas further out. Very much enjoyed the days tours organised by the guesthouse with tour guide Ephraim. I recommend 84th on 4th Guesthouse as a very nice place to stay in Johannesburg."

"This is a wonderful oasis. My room was in a small guesthouse on the premises, with a large and beautiful bedroom and full bath. There were even teas and and container of biscotti for late night snacks. The rooms faced a goldfish pond, so that I woke every morning to birdsong. Linda the manager and Andre the host were gracious and helpful, particularly to someone new to Joburg. I highly recommend this guest house, particularly for travelers coming from afar like me. It's such a treat to come...
