Amaru Colonial was one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had. It is a beautiful hotel with stunning views of Cusco from the patio. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The area felt safe and is a short walk to the city center. Breakfast each day was healthy and tasty. The staff went above and beyond with transporting and storing our luggage for a few days while we went to Machu Picchu at their sister hotel which we stayed at when we returned to Cusco.
A beautiful hotel with so much charm. The hotel is very taken care of and the room was extremely clean. Hotel is in walking distance to the square, restaurants, cafes, etc… thank you Amaru!
I have stayed at Amaru Colonial on each of my 4 visits to Cusco. I have brought a group of 10 people each time and they all love it. This hotel is quaint, serene, full of pretty flowers and a colonial design. Most of the rooms overlook the garden. The showers are great and there is hot water. Their staff are very helpful. The breakfast includes fruit, yogurt, pastries, buns, cheese, meat, eggs cooked your way and of course coffee, tea and juice. The only con about this place is Amaru is located on a hill that is on a narrow street, but once you are at the bottom of the hill there are many options for restaurants and shops.
This stay was fantastic! The property was beautiful, charming, and very clean. They have the nicest staff members, all of them extremely friendly and accommodating.
Well located to walk to city centre, friendly staff , good size rooms, hotel general areas and rooms spotless and excellent breakfast .Very good value . We would certainly re book / recommend this hotel to fellow travellers :)
Absolutely love this place, from check in to check out, staff very friendly. Walking distance from the center and everything you need, cutiest garden and very clean. Totally recommend
Beautiful interior with lovely garden and lots of outdoor seating. All employees were friendly and professional. only downsides were 1) nowhere to securely store luggage after we checked out and 2) lots of noise starting around 4 am from staff cleaning and preparing for morning - only a problem because the windows are very old and sound travelled easily to wake us up

Overall, this is a decent value for the money if you are not particular with your accommodations. Breakfast is very decent too.
One of the places I stayed in Peru - the only one with heating in the rooms, nice colonial style, breakfast was pretty good (also one of the only ones with avocado for breakfast for ex), the only one I stayed with free coca tea, tea or filtered water for any guest (can save you some money!), super friendly staff! I’d stay there again any time I came back to Cusco! Too bad it was fully booked for the other days.
I have stayed at Amaru Colonial a few times in the past. I love this beautiful hotel. It has lovely gardens and the rooms have lots of character. There are many choices for breakfast. The staff are amazing and willing to help out how ever they can. It is close to some really great restaurants. The only challenge is walking down the hill. As a Canadian, we are definitely not used to the narrow roads and watching to make sure your purse strap doesn't get caught on a car mirror as the cars drive past. It just takes a little getting used to. But saying that, I keep going back! Also discovered they have a sister hotel in Urubamba called Amaru Valle. We stayed there also and loved it. It is the same style hotel (but not on a hill )

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Disliked: Amenities
Pros - clean boutique hotel with friendly staff. WiFi was pretty decent and the consistent hot water (something you shouldn’t take for granted in Peru) was a major plus.
Cons - Cusco sits 11, 152 feet above sea level. One has to get acclimated to the altitude (for which they do provide coca tea), but one shouldn’t have to struggle with staying warm in a hotel. “HEAT” is only provided from 7 pm to 7 am (which, to be fair, is standard for Cusco) but even when the heat is on, it’s insufficient. You have to remain under heavy quilts if you don’t wanna freeze out. There is no mention of heat limits when I booked this on Expedia. Therefore, imagine the level of shock when I was told upon check in.
Also, the surrounding streets are very narrow, with room for only 1 person or car at a time. You have to consistently stop to let vehicles go by and it gets annoying quick. Having said that, there are many dining options within a short distance.
Overall, the experience was decent. Would I stay here again? Not unless real, sufficient heat was provided round the clock. To me, that’s a deal breaker.
Beautiful, characterful hotel. Lovely staff, very clean and great breakfast. Superb

It had a very boutique, kind of B&B type of vibe. The staff was very friendly, the breakfast was very good, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. I enjoyed my stay, and would recommend to others.
We loved it so much we kept coming back throughout our whole stay in Cusco! Great rooms, breakfast, friendly staff and an endless supply of filtered water and coca tea! Would stay here again without question. Close to the town square and restaurants.
