"Older hotel but very clean. Fit our needs while in town for a doctors appointment at Duke. Staff was fantastic! During the day cleaning staff was deep cleaning floors, common spaces and even walls. Front desk was always polite and happy to help. Night desk clerk went above and beyond. But never once was anyone rude or seem unhappy at work. Rooms are ready for a refresh but they are clean."

"Our third stay at the Umstead, and just for a night. But you really can't beat this property. I couldn't think of a negative aspect if you paid me! We LOVE treating ourselves to a stay at the Umstead - especially in the summer when we can take advantage of the pool!"
